Turn 5 - October 2nd, 1940 MESSAGE TO: 10th Army Headquarters, Halfaya MESSAGE FROM: Royal Army HQ, Rome MESSAGE READS: His Excellency Benito Mussolini, Head of Government, Duce of Fascism, and Founder of the Empire requests IMMEDIATE capture of SIDI BARRANI and destruction of any and all British forces within the city. 10th Army was presented with clear and precise objectives in order to secure a decisive and critical victory over British and Commonwealth forces in western Egypt. His Excellency again stresses the immediate requirement of this victory. INACTIVITY IS DEATH. END MESSAGE SITREP: Egyptian Advance (Sidi Barrani) -- Marmarcia Division, Libyan Tank Division and elements from 1st CCNN are ordered to the outskirts of Sidi Baranni, and instructed to engage and destroy any and all enemy forces garrisoned within the city. Resistance will be fierce. 10th Army Artillery assets will be moved up to support the attack. Tanks will be useless in street fighting, but will secure the avenues of escape from the city to maximize destruction of enemy forces. -- Cirene Division remains in position around Buq Buq. Standing by to attack British armor reported in position 15km E of Buq Buq. -- Pescatori Division and Gruppo Maletti continue to consolidate efforts E of Sofafi. -- LX(L) Tank, Libyan Tank Command, moves off the line E of Sofafi. Swings S, then NE behind British forces towards Bir Emba. -- Sibille Division remains in place at Sofafi. -- Cantanzaro Division remains in place along Buq Buq highway.
