bobogoboom -> You have got to be kidding me. (3/29/2009 2:14:43 AM)

i know the history channel is the ufo and big foot channel. but seriously they have pearl harbor(the worst movie ever made) on tonight. everyone at that network need to be rounded up and summarily beaten. there is no way they should be allowed to be called the history channel.

Gasp! You named what shall not be named!

jwilkerson -> RE: You have got to be kidding me. (3/29/2009 2:25:28 AM)

I think he just said the UFO channel has a UFO movie playing.
[:D]

jeffk3510 -> RE: You have got to be kidding me. (3/29/2009 2:30:24 AM)

Ben Affleck and Josh Hartnett save the day for the US at Pearl Harbor... everyone knows that...

But really....

I hear you buddy... especially his quote about the P40 vs the Zero... "P40s can't outrun Zeros, so we're going to have to outfly them"

SO totally backwards.... pretty sure if a P40 pilot tried to "outfly" a Zero, he would be dead...

Mike Scholl -> RE: You have got to be kidding me. (3/29/2009 2:35:52 AM)

The truely sad part is that a lot of the viewer's will actually think it's History.  Of course, they are the same ones that believe in Bigfoot and think Aliens are probing their butts!  Personally, I think of "the History Channel" as the somewhat less funny version of "the Comedy Channel"....

jeffk3510 -> RE: You have got to be kidding me. (3/29/2009 2:38:09 AM)

I do like watching the history channel... but do agree with you Mike...

Are you trying to say this isn't true! I am sure Bigfoot lives right outside in the forest and I know that Aliens have done strange things to me. [X(]

Don't believe in aliens? Just ask Cartman..

Cartman does NOT have an Alien anal probe. "Farts" Oh nevermind, seems cartman has a 50 foot radar dish coming out his butt.

History channel USED to be cool when it ran shows about Gangus Kahn and warlords and such.
UFO??? isn't that for the Sci-Fi channel? Perhaps History channel wants to be UFO Central.

jeffk3510 -> RE: You have got to be kidding me. (3/29/2009 3:54:29 AM)

Like I said.... Ben Affleck and Josh Hartnett saved the Americans at Pearl Harbor... it is in every grade school textbook...[:D]

What happened at Pearl was tragic, so please don't take offense, however Pearl Harbor was a garbage movie, but if you do like the movie and wish to hate, don't because everyone is titled to their opinion.

To each their own...

The only good thing in that piece o' crap is when they bomb US Steel Gary Works, Gary Indiana. They are our main competitor, lol. Should have evac'ed and used real 500 pounders.

jeffk3510 -> RE: You have got to be kidding me. (3/29/2009 4:12:08 AM)

Haha... I also like when theyre in that car, and a Jap plane strafes the car, and the result is a little bit of cosmetic damage, and they ride on like nothing just happened...

Wouldnt the car errupt in flames ???? lol

morganbj -> RE: You have got to be kidding me. (3/29/2009 4:19:25 AM)

Do you guys mean to say that the movie is not historically correct?  And all this time, I thought .....

jeffk3510 -> RE: You have got to be kidding me. (3/29/2009 4:26:58 AM)

[:D] (After I told my wife why you made me laugh, she said Pearl Harbor is a great movie)

Hmm.... where some place value, others truely don't see it [>:]

cyberwop36 -> RE: You have got to be kidding me. (3/29/2009 4:35:18 AM)

I also like the modern DDG's getting bombed by the Japs. Must of been the "Final Countdown" escort.

bradfordkay -> RE: You have got to be kidding me. (3/29/2009 4:38:31 AM)

It just shows how far the mighty (History Channel) have fallen, when they stoop to showing The Movie Which Shall Not Be Named. I'm sad to say that I think that I can count on one hand the number of times I have seen an interesting show on THC this year...

Misconduct -> RE: You have got to be kidding me. (3/29/2009 5:32:40 AM)

Whats next for history channel, the movie "UFO" with Wierd AL? [:'(]

You must work for Acelor Mittal. I just did a proposal for you guys!

Canoerebel -> RE: You have got to be kidding me. (3/29/2009 6:33:54 AM)

Come on, guys!  Next you'll be telling me that Dances with Wolves didn't accurately portray a cavalry trooper in the late 19th century, that Cold Mountain didn't accurately portray the morals of rural Southerners during the Civil War, that modern Navy frigates didn't patrol the waters off Guadalcanal during WWII as depicted in Thin Red Line, and that Patriot wasn't a fair depiction of life and war in South Carolina during the American Revolution.

Sadly, all true.

Fortunately, there are always great documentaries like Kelly's Heroes to remind us what life was really like during the war.

Ask your wife this (I did when my wife said she liked it):

"Honey, if I got shot down in the English channel and spent 7 months hiding in some French girls barn and then when I did manage to get back to safety, I didnt call you and just showed up on your doorstep you dont see that as a problem?"

Her answer:

"Course not, I married your buddy while you were away because I just KNEW you were getting into that kind of sh".

So yes, to a woman I guess it made a perfect movie. [:D]

ool -> RE: You have got to be kidding me. (3/29/2009 11:24:32 AM)

Well first of all I nominate U-571 as the runner up in the Hollywood worst dreck military "movie" of all time. A friend of mine, a yank that is now living in Ottawa, ex US army sniper in a counter terrorist unit, actually got into a argument with one of his kids teachers at school over U571. The teacher, obviously having drunk the Hollywood Kool aid, insisted the movie was historically accurate, This in spite of the fact that at the end of the movie it lists the actual units and dates where the enigma machines were obtained. Ed was so disgusted with this tripe that he sarcastically stated," Hell why did the US even bother to have a navy? Just send out this sub and with a hole in its side it could sink the Kreigsmarine and shoot down the Luftwaffe all by itself while sinking!" Ed is hilarious! As for the teacher? Lemming alert![8|][8|][8|]

Guess that must have been after I walked out on the movie.

Now if you want to see a GOOD movie. See if you can find Taking Chance again on HBO. I watched it on AFN last night and it was a great movie.

Well, The Movie Which Shall Not Be Named does have one redeeming feature. It's got Kate Beckinsale...[:)]

I completely agree. It seems pretty Kate's choice of movies has a single requirement : no scenario. But she just makes you forget about this fact right with her first appearance...[&o]

It was right at the start; the frigate is cruising past the island as the sun rises. At least it so messed up that movie for me I was no longer outraged by the other crap they showed.

As for The Movie that Shall Not Be Named, the part that killed me was watching Oklahoma rise out of the water in order to capsize. It was obvious that the directors spent so much money on blowing up "Arizona" and turning the "Oklahoma" over that they had nothing left over for anything else. I was incredibly angry by the time I got out of that movie, and it had nothing to do with the plot or the ending!
