I was simply trying to show my respect to a man who, despite his success, fame and fortune, clearly considered his service in the USMC as his most significant achievement in life. He died more than 40 years after the end of WW2, and could have wanted to be remembered as an Oscar winning actor, a big film star, or whatever. Instead he choose "PFC U. S. Marine Corps" How many guys we got like that in Hollywood today? "Ah, stardom! They put your name on a star in the sidewalk on Hollywood Boulevard and you walk down and find a pile of dog manure on it. That tells the whole story, baby." Lee Marvin
