Fuchida -> Reviewing Sighting Reports (5/20/2002 8:56:29 PM)

Is there any way to review sighting reports (by aircraft or coastwatcher) which happened during the movement phases.

Its sometimes difficult to get a good view of where they are in the few seconds in which they pop up, especially if they are in the middle of the sea with no nearby landmarks.

It would be good to be able to see them in the following orders phase. Am I missing something somewhere?

I had just had the same situation again. A sighting of a jap carrier somwhere in the Coral Sea. I had no time to figure out exactly where it was before the turn had moved on. No there is no evidence that a sighting took place and I have no way to review exactly where the carrier was seen.

This is very frustrating, especially as in reality I would want to decide the movements of my own carriers based on the sighting reports. I feel like if I don't manage to identify the exact location and scribble it down in a few seconds I am missing a large part of the game?

Am I missing something or is this the way sighting is supposed to work?

You can change the delay settings for messages so they stay on screen longer... I don't have the manual in front of me, but it has a section telling you how to do this.

Thanks for that but the maximum message delay time is still only 4.5 seconds. Any idea how to retrieve those sighting reports in the next orders phase?

I do not have the game yet, but if there is no current method of reviewing the spotting reports, perhaps they could be implemented in a patch.

SPWAW has a combat logging feature that allows you to dump certain messages to a file, which is overwritten with each game.

A similar feature in UV could be the easiest way of capturing that information, and other messages as well.

I agree that sighting reports should be a separate report and viewable in an easy-to-see form.

In addition to "combat reports" which are nice, a separate sighting report would be a good addition.

Hello...

We have a feature which on the wish list that would record sightings, base and aircraft upgrades and the like. It would be accessed from the Intel screen. Not sure if it will get into UV or have to wait for WiP.

Thanks...

Michael Wood
