Nemo121 -> Query re: joystick calibration (4/16/2009 7:38:27 PM)

Well I'm loading up lots of my old games on the cnew computer ( 2.83 Ghz quad core, 8 Gb RAM, 1 Gb GeForce 285 XT Graphics card, X-fi Gamer Soundcard, 5.1 speakers etc etc etc ). Vista 64 ( purely so I can get the 3D monitor and glasses for FPS etc when they come out on this side of the pond ).

I'm having a problem though... I unpacked my old ( but trusty ) Thrustmaster Afterburner 2 stick and throttle combo and while pretty much everything works perfectly when I plug it in ( via the USB port ) for some reason the joustich, when centred, is showing an extreme deviation to the right on the calibration screen.

This is severe enough that I need full left stick plus full rudder to even approximate maintenance of an original heading in Il-2.

So, is there some SNAFU with my drivers ( latest drivers downloaded direct from the thrustmaster site)... OR is my joystick broken... It went through a couple of house moves and wasn't exactly packed in cotton wool so that's a possibility.

I've heard good things about the Saitek X52 stick if I have to replace this one but I feel it looks just a bit too much like it stepped out of a sci-fi show for me. I like my old-fashioned Thrustmaster stick with its re-assuring heft.
