Hello,

Just wanted to give you guys a heads-up. It appears as though I am having sound issues when playing the game on a Windows Vista computer. When I click the desktop link to bring up the menu, all "clicking" sounds on the FOF menu occur. When the game is started, there is no sound of any kind (music, voices, clicking, etc).

Eric, our programmer, is on vacation this week, so he can't respond for a few days. He'd probably say that he now develops WCS games on a Vista computer and had no such problem. He'd also probably suggest that you make sure your drivers are updated. Beyond that, I'm having trouble channeling him.

Did you ever encounter this before?

hangarflying -> RE: Possible Vista Bug (4/17/2009 3:32:01 AM)

I had been playing the game on XP with no problems. When I first installed the game on Vista I had the sound issue. I then rebooted the computer and the game worked fine. Following that, I had tried playing the game every few days following that during a few quick moments of free time with the problem reocurring. The computer had already been on and I had not tried restarting the computer due to a lack of time.

Next time I do it, I'll try restarting the computer if it pops up.

I hope the drivers don't need to be updated, the computer is new since January.

Please let us know what happens after a reboot.

By the way, do you have 32-bit or 64-bit Vista?

hangarflying -> RE: Possible Vista Bug (5/8/2009 12:15:13 AM)

Sorry for the long reply.

It is a 64-bit Vista. I just tried to play the game and there was no sound.

Thanks!

64 bit OS's aren't supported as they actually run 32 bit code on emulators that MSFT acknowledges aren't exactly like the 32 bits versions of the OS's, and we simply don't have the manpower to support what amounts to an additional operating system.

You might try updating your sound drivers, or running in XP compatible mode.

FOF sound works on our 32 bit Vista properly.

Has anyone else had any experience trying to run FOF on a 64 bit Vista system?

How does one run in XP compatable mode? Does it make permanent changes to the computer or is it a one time thing that can be set up on start up and then is back to normal on the next start up?

Thanks guys!

wrigley77 -> RE: Possible Vista Bug (5/19/2009 1:23:28 AM)

Could I get a clarification on this? I've been a long time player, forum lurker, and first time poster.

My old comp died (had XP), and my new one, with 64-bit Vista, doesn't seem to want to run the game.

Am I out of luck?

Kingmaker -> RE: Possible Vista Bug (5/19/2009 10:33:09 AM)

HiHi

For compatability.

Click on 'start'
Right click on the FoF Icon if showing or go to 'All Programes' and find FoF if not (or any other game if similar probs)
on the Dropdown menue click 'Properties'
from the Properties menue click on the 'Compatabities' tab across the top and take it from there.

PS FoF runs fine on my Vista 32 bit so probably no need to drop down to XP.

Hope this helps.

All the Best
Peter

I just got FOF and it is working on my 64-bit Vista. Only problem is that the intro video doesn't work properly.

Gil R. -> RE: Possible Vista Bug (9/6/2009 8:11:05 PM)

Do you have updated Flash? That might cause the movie problem.

2ndACR -> RE: Possible Vista Bug (9/10/2009 3:59:32 AM)

I have run FOF on a 64 bit Vista since I bought the game in 2007/8......no issues at all with the game......mine runs it fine at all times.
