Enemy search plane reports? (Full Version)

So far I've played only as the Allies. I'm curious as to why I get search reports from enemy search planes. Is this simulating intercepted traffic? It is kind of fun because it is quite often inaccurate (sometimes wildly so - like when in worsening weather a Japanese search plane spotted my 15 ship carrier TF and reported it as 3 DDs :)).

At any rate, I'm just curious about the rationale here.

I believe in those cases you spotted the spotters. As to getting their scouting report, I would assume radio interception.
