DE679 -> Picture of us at DC Metro Witp Summit (5/3/2009 1:01:57 AM)

The first DC area summit went off with out a hitch, and a good time was had by all. We had six show. AW1Steve, Asqerix, Skewball, Tallyman662, SimonDC, and DE679. We had to separate the JFB's to the far side of the table. They kept mumbling something about KB this and mini KB that. Grumble grumble allied 4 engine bombers, and then something about PT boats, and Uber Cap. While the AFB's also griped a bit but not as much with something about Betty and her torpeedee's; and then something about 180,000 guys on some atoll. We also placed bets on when AE will be released! AW1Steve is going to host another summit soon and hope others will come. We had a great time with great Beers, and fine conversations about Witp. Finally someone understands what I am talking about! [:)]

In the Picture below, from left to right is, AW1Steve, Asqerix, DE679, Skewball, SimonDC, and Tallyman662.

PS. After many beer's most started to think that Nikademus Insanity Wood girl was looking pretty good![:D]

Congrats on putting together such a fine summit. A few questions:

1) Looks like you guys are really enjoying those glasses of ice tea, but why is it foaming?

2) I've heard alot about trolls and stuff, but you guys all look pretty normal.

3) Where are the Confederates? (Isn't this a gathering of Army of Northern Virgina WitP afficionados?)

4) Where are the babes? Aren't most WitP's players female?

marky -> RE: Picture of us at DC Metro Witp Summit (5/3/2009 1:20:52 AM)

[:D][:D]

im guessing thats not all iced teas [:D]

thegreatwent -> RE: Picture of us at DC Metro Witp Summit (5/3/2009 1:32:21 AM)

Congrats on tearing that many WitP players away from their computers. It is always fun to meet with folks affiliated, I mean, dedicated to our particular game[:)]

But not as good as Nik's GF unit. (stated freely even though GF unit is peeking over shoulder....) [sm=innocent0009.gif]

Great pic - thanks for sharing it!

Now, did you settle that question about the Bismark?

You mean that's a girl!?!?!?!?!!?!![&:][&:]

PeteG662 -> RE: Picture of us at DC Metro Witp Summit (5/3/2009 9:27:44 AM)

With a few hundred choices of beers from around the world we had to try and sample most of them.

The eyeball liberty there was not bad either (no, not Nik's Insanity Woods girl types). If ever in NOVA, look us up!

Wait...nobody brought a wall-sized poster of the WITP map to talk shop?

We agreed to save that for a second time and a quieter place. [:)] We did have fun discussing the Thread, and fellow forumites and Threadsters. [:D]

witpqs -> RE: Picture of us at DC Metro Witp Summit (5/3/2009 4:48:15 PM)

Hmmm. The gears are turning. Most of those places have souvenirs on the walls. How about if you start leaving some AAR battle maps from WITP on the walls at the establishments you visit? Imagine the stories historians swap as they 'remember' famous battles that never happened, etc. [:D]

Yes, yes....one should never underestimate the "chic magnet" effect
of a bunch of guys talking about a wargame either.

Captain Ed -> RE: Picture of us at DC Metro Witp Summit (5/3/2009 5:00:53 PM)

This is cool, how about a pacific northwest summit.[:)]

It is still a little fuzzy, but if I recall correctly. The consensus was that the British did NOT sink the Bismark, but was scuttled by her own crew.

(Keeping my head down for all the flak that's going to come my way for that answer.) [sm=00000016.gif]

How about we table discussion on this one till our next summit, say in a month or two? [:D]

Mynok -> RE: Picture of us at DC Metro Witp Summit (5/4/2009 2:49:10 AM)

Yes, much better to discuss that while drunk. [:'(]

Well, it is a chic magnet. I know, because I've seen it in a Ron Saueracker avatar.

Well, maybe not , but tempers don't generally fly in the presense of good feelings brought about by beer...[:D]

"Imagine the stories historians swap as they 'remember' famous battles that never happened, etc. "

Which brings an interesting new question to mind: what do you call the battles you watch while suffering from the synch bug?

Battles that didn't occur in a game of battles that never happened? [&:]

WELL said! Congrats on a great get together!

skrewball -> RE: Picture of us at DC Metro Witp Summit (5/4/2009 6:59:43 PM)

Man, all I can say is that its not a good thing to have Rum for breakfast! [:(] I was hurting the next day, that's for sure! Great to meet you guys, sorry I had to head out so quickly.

tocaff -> RE: Picture of us at DC Metro Witp Summit (5/4/2009 7:22:08 PM)

Glad you guys had a good time.  I suppose that a get together in Brazil would be expecting a bit much?  A bunch of Gringos throwing down beers would be a magnet to the females and that would only be a distraction from a good WITP discussion.

What time do we need to show up?

Canoerebel -> What really went on at the DC summit... (5/4/2009 8:19:12 PM)

What was really going on while the "troops" were quaffing a few beverages.

PeteG662 -> RE: What really went on at the DC summit... (5/4/2009 8:33:22 PM)

There was actually a hot babe over to the left I was glancing at and not worrying about the "flat root beer".

tocaff -> RE: What really went on at the DC summit... (5/4/2009 8:51:56 PM)

OK then here's the plan for the WITP gathering in Brazil:

1 It's really spelled Brasil in Portuguese
2 Arrival times will commence within 72 hours of the release of AE so you can fiddle with the game and read the manual a few times on the flight down
3 You must bring a case of excellent beer with you so I won't get thirsty while getting to use my English talking strategies
4 Sunglasses are mandatory so when looking at the girls nobody knows for sure
5 Wives and/or girlfriends may become tourists or see #4 for your safety
6 BBQ and more drinks will be mandatory, repeatedly
[:D]

rockmedic109 -> RE: What really went on at the DC summit... (5/4/2009 11:20:24 PM)

Sorry tocaff, but I won't be able to make it to your Brazil party.  72 hours after the release of AE, I will be falling into an exhausted slumber at my computer.  I will not have moved from my computer chair during the previous 71 hours.  It's sad growing old and being unable to last more than three straight days awake.
