Taijian -> Surrender instead of retreat with forced access? (5/4/2009 12:00:48 PM)

Hi,

I recently ran into the following situation (playing 1.06):

France (me) and GB (AI) duking it out inside Spain's territory.
GB has voluntary access, France has forced access.
Through lucky chit pull and lucky dice (3*6 v 3*1[:@]) a lone British Corps manages to break Davout's I and IIC French Coprs.
The battle took place in Area57, there were French Depots at both Madrid and Ciudad Rodrigo.
Instead of retreating, Davout and his troops surrendered to GB.

WAD or bug?

Unfortunately, I don't. I continued playing, since it didn't really matter atm with my land superiority v GB. Only thought of posting here when it was too late and already overwritten. [:(]

That's fine! I have a few solos going on today where I can begin some French invasion into Spain. Can you tell me where it happened in Spain? I'm assuming France was at war with Spain anf GBr?

Well, not anymore at that point. My aim was to attack Portugal (GB FS), so I declared on Spain in order to win an unconditional surrender -> forced access. By the time Spain folded, my forces were deep in their territory, including depots at Madrid and Ciudad Rodrigo (complete with valid supply chain, of course). At this point GB attacked my force (Davout) at Area57 from Portuguese territory.

So France was at war with GB (and Portugal as a GB FS) but not anymore with Spain. GB was Spainish ally and had voluntary access in Spain, France had forced access as a result of Spain's unconditional surrender that diplo phase.

Gotchya! Sounds like a potential issue with retreating into a "Forced Access" area???
