I had it! I had it down, all I had to do was to get my carrier task force (Kuszentov) to Iceland and I would be victorious. [8D]

I had devastated every airbase in the scenario, the Blue side had nothing in the air.
I had sunk every surface asset including the French Carrier task force.

I knew the submarines were my only obstacle...
I had every asset out looking for subs.
I had so many helos in the air doing ASW that I thought they would hit each other.

But all to no avail.

It started with one torpedo, then 2 then 4 then 6.

One at a time my fleet lost assets until lastly my Kuznetov died... [X(]
I lost my first battle to one submarine, which was killed just before the Kuznetov died; but all in vain as I still lost.
To lose to a submarine is bad, to lose to a French submarine... is disgraceful... [:(]

Always nice to hear about someone getting his ass handed to him... [;)]

Yeah, the subs in HCE are really, really stealthy.  I take many losses from them that I would never have incurred in the HC97 or HCGold versions of the game.  Great to see you enjoying the game.

Not necessarily.

The French have been working very hard on cloaking technology, and it appears they have been successful:

"These submarines are undetectable, they make less noise than a shrimp,"
