fmj -> Medals (5/7/2009 8:11:50 PM)

Looking for a comprehensive list of medals awarded my courageous sprites from the various countries they fight for. Is there a photo/list available depicting the different medals with brief descriptions?

Really enjoying both WAR and TLD. Thanks [8D]

It would be great if the leader of a squad could receive a medal for the overall performance of the squad. Its always funny to find the gunner and loader from a tank rack up the kills and get medals while the tank commander gets nothing [:(]

One of these decades, I'd like to see the Combat Infantry Badge removed as the lowest order US award. First off, it isn't a medal, it is a qualification badge. And it was and still today is only issued to infantrymen. Plus, one didn't need to actually fire a weapon in the fight. Just being in the battle gets you the qual badge. Atomic screwed that up 11 years ago and the error still persists.

A long time ago on a forum far, far away (and now lost in cyberspace), there was a very active thread about taking the awards and decorations away from the game engine and allow the player to dole out a few. As Carrol O'Connor said in Kelly's Hero's; "I got a box of medals here in the Jeep for you!".

Rather than the game engine deciding if a soldier or tanker gets a medal for the most kills, I'd like to be able to award the one that did the best, such as holding the last VL as the last man, the grunt that didn't kill the most tanks or soldiers, but the ones that were collapsing the left flank and so on.

The British medal described above as 'King George V Issue' is actually the Distinguished Conduct Medal....(DCM).... what a KGV issue is I have no idea..sounds like a stamp to me[:)]

Regarding German medals, I wonder why 5th sprite is labeled 'War Order of the German Cross'. The correct description should be just 'German Cross' (Landser slang: Spiegelei).

Thanks SL for posting, nice list Kartboy.

It seems I have multiple winners of the Knights Cross, and one picked up both the KC and the War Order Ger Cross!
Will post screens when I get to my faster connection. Cheers
