this is again not a bug report, but a wish list item.

i am a historical miniature gamer and it would be a very nice feature if the a battle option was added to allow players to export OOBs and strategic choices (flanking attack, interior lines, etc) for battles and enter battle results into the game after playing out the battle as a tabletop miniatures game.

i am not sure that this is the type of feature that will have a wide interest, but it certainly would for those of us who are into both computer games and tabletop gaming - it allows a gaming group to use tabletop miniature battles to resolve major conflicts between human controlled nations while using in game options to resolve other battles.

Unfortunately, this would be extremely difficult to do, since battles take place in the middle of the turn phase. So it's unlikely we'd be able to add this as a feature, since it would involve redoing part of the engine.

I'm curious about something: do a lot of miniatures players also play computer games such as this one? I'm under the impression that there's relatively little overlap.

gil - i can only speak for myself, but i would always want to play balanced (i.e. 3:2 or better) napoleonics battles on tabletop instead of the PC.

i know that EIA has this feature - it might be a better match for the historical miniature gamer.

Not sure I would do so any more, but my friend and I used to play miniatures. We found *one* set of computer-moderated tactical rules we liked, but they didn't have a suitable Strategic/Operational layer. We often used to wish that we could find something... but that was c.10 years ago.

Steve.

I am a long time miniatures player, except I have moved across the country and cannot play with the group that I used to. This is precisely why I dream of Detailed Combat having the ability to be exported/imported to LAN and back to pbem.

I would think that this is exactly the type of game to attract miniatures wargamers actually.

Carnage & Glory II fan here. (Computer driven simulation for miniatures)
