cyberwop36 -> LCI [G]'s deployment. (5/11/2009 5:19:23 PM)

Do you put these rocket firing LCI's into the landing TF to suppress coastal guns? Or do you put them in a bombardment TF?

How does the program handle these boats? When to they fire?

Thanks

FOW -> RE: LCI [G]'s deployment. (5/11/2009 6:11:48 PM)

AFAIK in stock these do not work because of a database error.
If using a Mod or scenario that has been amended then you put them in the Amph TF.

Feinder -> RE: LCI [G]'s deployment. (5/11/2009 6:48:58 PM)

Tis true, the LCI(G), LCI(M), LCI(R) don't work.

They act only as targets for enemy CD guns; while creating only limited frenzy and chaos by peppering the enemy defenses with marsh-mellows.

Oh crap, I'm playing stock. So I guess i'll send them along for show. Maybe they'll soak up a shell or a mine.

Thanks.

I did not know this!!!!!  that they don't work that is..    well i guess i can either leave them at San Fran and save on the Fuel or try to use them as some sorta barge buster.  i trust that this is corrected in AE??

They don't bust barges. Their only use is as targets; something that hits it doesn't hit anything else.

I have sunk dozens as Japan in my PBEM, so I suppose it works.

Oh yes. It's a simple data fix. It should be included in the new patch for WiTP that Joe and YH are working on.

Feinder -> RE: LCI [G]'s deployment. (5/12/2009 9:14:47 PM)

But when you say "it's a data fix", that means it's fixed in the DB editor. Ergo, games in progress will not suddenly have the LCI(G,M,R) start working.

It takes a new game to pull in the new (correct) values for the LCI(G) etc from the DB.

Correct?

Yes.

Well, the last comment on the WITP patch is that it will not be patchable to existing games any way - BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!

Canoerebel -> RE: LCI [G]'s deployment. (5/12/2009 10:28:33 PM)

In my last game with John III, I sent every one of those useless ships to Astoria, Oregon, where they sat out the war.

Not entirely true... you can hardwire changes into the code, and this has been done once or twice in the past... if there is no coding hardwire, then you must restart a game to get DATABASE changes (i.e. - problems with classification of guns, armor thickness, bomb pen values, etc.) fixed... however, other problems that a patch fixes (for instance, search routines, combat routines, etc.) will be fixed even if you do not restart.

m10bob -> RE: LCI [G]'s deployment. (5/13/2009 12:30:52 PM)

In playtesting, I have been known to restart just to correct 2 missing MG's from a single plane type.
With all the fun and experience I get from the game, its' not like I have lost anything, just improved it.
Matter of priorities.[8D]

Well, if playing the AI - no problem... if you are in the middle of a hotly contested PBEM, people are generally reluctant to restart.

bush -> RE: LCI [G]'s deployment. (5/13/2009 3:21:12 PM)

I still include them in amph TF's as targets. I figure it is better to lose them than a ship laden with troops.

There was a comment that the patch will expand the Pilot array to fix the pilot bug. This will make the patch incompatible with any currently running WiTP game
