from a question I had off forum

looks like you can not install the old game to Vista (64 bit at least, I don't have normal)

but you can copy and paste, but then you will also have to move a Dll over, I was able to place one in Windows/System32 and Windows/SysWoW64 folders and it worked (may be able to just put it into the game folder too)

now if I could get it to see my Editor, I would be really happy

It works fine on my Vista laptop but not sure if it's 32 or 64. On the editor one of them works forget whether it's the editor lite or the other version as it's been some time since I had my laptop on. If I get time this weekend after judging a bbq contest, I'll let you now if you want me to. I think the doctrine editor works as well on mine.

I think you got the 32 bit, the 64 bit is touchy on what it will let install

this is a different editor :)

It's Vista that's touchy on what IT'LL let you install, maybe they should call it HAL instead [:'(]

Hard Sarge -> RE: old game and Vista (5/15/2009 7:15:57 PM)

cute :)

ahhh, don't know much about installer or types, but from what I understand, 32 bit will install most older programs, up to a 32 bit installer

64 bit, will only work with a 32 bit installer or higher

so trying to install old, pre Vista Games onto a 64 bit system is not going to work out too well, but you may be able to copy and paste them into the system, and have them work

(on my laptop, the old BTR runs great, I just can't install it)

Dixie -> RE: old game and Vista (5/15/2009 7:24:39 PM)

I got it to install on my Vista 32 bit laptop.  On my 64 bit desktop though, it just threw a wobbly [:(] and refused to even contemplate it.  So I copied it across on a usb memory stick like a certain someone suggested [;)]  The dll file that it said was missing seems to work from within the game directory, so now I'm remembering what I've forgotten, or trying to.  [:D]

Augenstein -> RE: old game and Vista (5/23/2009 1:20:01 PM)

Installed BTR succesfully on Vista and it runs just fine.. also got the ocx files registered for the editor and I can run it as well.. HOWEVER I cant reach the pilot page, simply nothing happens when I try to click the icon, doesn't give me anysort of error message, just wont let me open the pilot list.. wonder what's up with that. Installed btredit0503.

morganbj -> RE: old game and Vista (5/26/2009 2:24:45 PM)

Well, I installed BTR, placed the dll in the correct folder and all I got was a black screen with the BTR cursor on it.  [:(]  I fiddled around a while, but gave up.  HardSarge, ([&o]), you're just going to have to kick some patootie and get this thing done so I can play it again.  I can't stinkin' wait!

toast_1 -> RE: old game and Vista (5/27/2009 3:19:52 PM)

Old BTR works on my laptop running 32 bit Vista home with no problems.
