Hello Gentlemen

What Effect does ASW Missions have vs CAP Missions on Experience Gain for Air Squadrons ??

Anecdotally, units running ASW seame tu gain exp.

Really slow experience gain for ASW missions seemingly related to if/when they sight/attack something (I think). CAP missions only gain experience if they fight other aircraft (and don't lose so many pilots that they replace pilots with utterly inexperienced newbies (much more sure of this).

Based upon a test run several years ago; subsequent patches may have changed the result. No hard numbers because I cannot find the test results and I hate to quote numbers from memory

1. Results virtually the same per "event" for ASW and Naval Search, but the probability of "events" was higher for ASW
2. Experience gain for an "eventless" search day was very low
3. Experinece gain for detecting something was much more than 10X an "eventless" search day
3. Experience gain for hitting something was about 2X detecting something; I suspected that it was the same but you got credit for both detecting and hitting the target.

I was unable to determine if you get more experience for actually sinking something.

While not quoting hard numbers, I will say that I remember that you could almost always see an experience increase in one turn for a hit up to about level 70 experience (but see methodology below).

Methodology: The test was based upon an existing stock H2H game where I cloned a save, stacked about 12 Helen/Sally on Truk (whatever the number is that will display all units on a single screen) and sent US subs to sit nearby then recorded the total exp for all units turn by turn against the total number of detects and hits per turn. I was too lazy to track detect/hits by individual unit.
