Does anyone know why task forces just disappear into thin air? I didn't notice this problem till I went to high resolution. I don't know if that has any thing to do with it though. I lost a transport task force and a carrier task force on the second turn of a scenario.

Also, why do task forces ignore my destination orders and head back to home port? This happens to me everytime I play. I've had this happen after a few turns when the task force had plenty of fuel. In one scenario, I tried to send two task forces to a rendezvous' hex with a replenishment task force and both kept ignoring my order and turning toward home port even though home port was much further away than the replenishment task force.

Would appreciate help if anyone knows a solution.

I believe units will return to home port once they reach their destination hex when "retirement allowed" orders are in place. So if you want a fleet to go to a hex and stay there, you must give the fleet a "patrol" order.

oldspyguy -> Thanks. You're right. (5/26/2002 8:08:31 AM)

The "retirement allowed" setting was my problem. Guess I should have broken down and read the entire manual. I only perused it.

I think I figured out my disappearing task forces also. For you old, blind grognards like myself, when I went to the higher screen resolution I didn't see the now smaller green task force icons when they were on the yellow label background of the map. When I listed the task forces, they were still in the list. I was then able to locate them. (red faced)

Thanks for the help Jagger.

As a fellow, old, blind grognard, I can both sympathize and understand.

The yellow highlighted text is a poor choice as the eyesight fades. I would have much preferred perhaps a black (or dark red), bold and oversized text for those items needed to attract attention.
