Andrew,

This is now second GC were I see the germans have lost their mortar team at merville battery after the first night battle (I didnt get either one in battle). I am going to run a new test GC with battle damage and territory taken thru a night and day turn (going to take a good days time) to see if this happens again. Could it be the other damaged inf. units are taking the men from that team to fill their ranks or somethg else?

Gz..

Hi Andrew, Rob and I have confirmed this today. The Germans are losing their mortar team on the second battle at Merville for an inexplicable reason. It doesn't show up in the force pool or in the Battle Group on the second battle.

This is a case of use it or lose it - I believe.

From the 2nd day onward reserves making it to the front are restricted.

If you have a Mortar in your active BG (15 teams in the main part of the screen) it will stay but if it's left in the inactive forcepool (list on the left) it will no longer be available from day 2 onwards.

OK - forget all this.

This is most likely do the following line/option in the Campaign.txt:

# Auto-add/remove teams to/from FPs on team type change? (0 = NO, 1 = YES)
1

Based on this option as the forcepool of available teams changes your list of troops to choose from will change. If this was 0 it would work like CC5 where the forcepool data was only used to determine the starting troops available or when the reinforcement button was pushed to replace the forcepool of available troops.

Just ran a test and the mortar stays as available whether in the active or inactive roster... It was always avaliable on the 2nd day for me.

Confirmation from the tecchie says this should be the case.

I have to put it down to you guys playing part of the GC unpatched and partly patched..... correct?

panzerlehr62 -> RE: Andrew, vanishing german mortar teams.. (6/9/2009 11:59:01 PM)

I just have no idea what happened.

One GC was patched from the get go, wasnt patched after it started. So why it messed up is anyones guess (one with gary). All his fine battle reporting looks to be for nothing, sadly.

I loaded game orginally like all the rest once I downloaded it. I dont make changes to no data files or experiment. I play the game the way its made. When you mentioned to re-install it, I did. Well it wouldnt let me, says somethg about a invalid path or somethg. I finally got it all deleted off hard drive and re-installed it again.

I ran a test and over 2 turns, mortar teams were there this time.

Re-playing all the GC from scratch. Havnt played but 3 maps in both combined, but all deployments were correct so far.

Edit:
The new beast puter (it is blazing fast I must say, and quiet) also had a issue, which I hope is fixed now by video card update patch (took like 8th lockup before Vista recovered from it and told me what was wrong). Just would screen freeze at some point (never happened playing game), ussually happen several times a day, only way to recover was to hold power button till it turned off. Whats that saying about luck, if it wernt for bad luck I would have no luck at all! [8|]
Gz...

OK... maybe a corrupt installation on your PC that is the problem.

There have been no other reports of 1/3 map deploy or missing mortars etc.

I have reproduced the 1/3 deploy using an old CC5 trick... so we're looking at that.

thanks
