AirGriff -> When did Kami 15 hex limit go away? (6/8/2009 4:45:14 AM)

The manual says kamikazes don't get activated until the Allies are within 15 hexes of Saigon, Takao, or I think Tokyo, right? I just had a kami attack just north of Timor, which is roughtly the northern limit of my lines. What gives?

I thought it was after breaching the "Inner Perimeter"

But the manual (p137) confirms what you have, after 1/1/44.

If activated, they can still be used outside of this circle.

Well, unless they count Chinese bases, I'm nowhere near 15 hexes yet.

Its that secret base you don't know about yet[8D]

I would think that it can't include Chinese bases as some start within that circle[:(]

Are there any Allied bases left behind for training purpose on Borneo, Palawan or Sumatra?

No. My opponent re-ran some old files and said they activated right after I took Timor. I forgot to count the hexes, but they can't be that close.

I'm just guessing here but could it be the map itself? I mean the Russians getting activated requires moving into a special hex on Andrew Brown's extended map. Could it be something similar? Perhaps you guys need to negotiate a house rule.

Yes - the map COULD be a problem if you are using a non-standard map... what mod (if any) are you using, and what map modification (if any)?

I think Wuckhov is in Stock Scenario 15, less then 15 Hexes from Saigon, if China can trigger it then it would do so in Stock as well.
Also, many bases in China has less then 15 Hexes from Tako, so Are you realy sure that China can be the reason ?

If China is the reason, even holding onto the PI would set it off.
(By the way, whats the date?)

The manual says the 15 hexes must be traced via sea. Whether or not the manual is actually correct in this, I cannot answer. My only thought is it could be hard coded into the map like malarial/cold areas. In the case of China, there are several port bases that do fit into this category and could possibly trigger the activation of kamis
