Oh dear. Does that mean I am about to see Masha Pasha Sasha again?

06 Maestro -> RE: PBEM 109 (8/18/2009 7:04:42 AM)

[:D] No, he is done with you. When Selim 3 the Magnificent comes to Prussia to dine, that particular Pasha will be left at home-Turkish civility.[;)]

The Sultan wonders if the TWO Prussian diplomats are visiting Egypt to sample some fine cuisine, or perhaps to look over some trade possibilities.

Perhaps they they are browsing the vast librariies where they may learn of a city (former) in Afghanistan.
At one time it had a population of over a million people-that is until Genghis Khan came through the area. What was once one of the greatest cities on earth, complete with universities, was no more. It has been called the "City of the Dead" for about 800 years. [sm=00000007.gif]

06 Maestro -> RE: PBEM 109 (8/19/2009 6:45:27 AM)

I can't seem to find our games agreed victory level of glory points. Was it 2000?

23 Years Highest Glory, LOL.

With 20 years to go, if we can get up to a turn every day or so and maintain that we ought to be able to finish about halfway through 2010.

This is why I have REALLY been pushing that 1 day turns should be achievable and everyone should do their best to make it so.

If we stay at 1 turn every 2 days and sometimes 3 days it could be into 2011.

Or we could vote on a new glory goal midgame and have it pass unanimously.

Our 2000 Glory "Another PBEM" game has gone 81 turns now and the highest Glory is Britain and Prussia really close to each other in Glory, both with 1200 Glory.

[:D]

Read? Bah, Hokum.

We're in Egypt because it is already mainly a desert, and we want to see whether Nukes that fit into suitcases still work, and that if they do whether we can start up a giant glass skating rink!!! [sm=00000436.gif]

The Sultan is unclear about the meaning of this message-perhaps because he is being distracted by a certain Pasha who wants to take a 1/2 million man army into Brandenburg to PILLAGE. The Sultan is trying to explain the incivility of such an action.

Thanks. And yes a turn, on average, once per day would be nice. I might even want to try it again.

If I were to visit Lhasa, I would like to take a high speed train, or at least a jeep with a heater. There are Buddist Monks that insist making the trip on foot-and face. They take a step or two and fall on thier face, get up and do it again-that makes for a long trip.

I think I would have better memories of the train ride.[;)]

It is so difficult to get good help these days isn't it? I am sure you'll be able to talk him round by explaining that we are only emulating the way Turkey conducts foreign policy.
Immitating is flattery for the immitated after all.

Touche' [8D] This will be considered.
It should also be considered that, after a while, flattery becomes embarrassing and annoying.

Well as long as nobody dies before we finish.

[:'(]

BTW, since we are within a half year of the Ogre appearing on the international stage, just want to remind everyone, but Terje in particular, that the general Dumouriez has to be removed by a treaty agreed to Turn 42 (so therefore sent T41) so France doesn't get two national hero generals when Napoleon comes Turn 43.

This is mentioned in the release notes for the Mod we are using. The "died in" feature isn't functioning, and it is unbalanced for France to have 2 national hero generals.

06 Maestro -> RE: PBEM 109 (8/20/2009 1:01:49 AM)

Turkey's turn 38 in-about 6 hours earlier than normal. We're cooking now.

Brits are in as well.

And the peaceloving French

06 Maestro -> RE: PBEM 109 (8/20/2009 5:54:53 PM)

A question for Y'all.

I have considered including paraphrased, or even complete copies of messages from other players as part of my AAR. Some may not appreciate that, as private messages are sort of private.

Recently, I have received some rather entertaining messages-from threatening, bellicose, painfully honest, to just plain conniving. My responses may be of some use to you in the various AAR's If some of these were included in the AAR's it may spice things up.

Of course, the messages would be presented as from the various heads of Nations, not as players/members. Editing would focus on retaining the content directly related to the concerns of a King, not mundane game mechanics.

I understand that this idea may not be acceptable to all as Pm's are presumed private. However, the messages should not be seen until the game is over, at which point it really does not matter. Of course, there is always the possibility of a spy looking for sensitive info, so do care would have to made in posting any secret material while it is still sensitive.

So, there is the question. Unless you say it is fine to quote, or paraphrase from your Pm's, I will not do it. Of course, any agreement will be reciprocal. I just hate to see some really good messages full of "feeling"[:D] locked away for all posterity.

Mus -> RE: PBEM 109 (8/21/2009 2:11:28 AM)

I would like a little delay (1-2 turns beyond what the information pertains to) to the quotes if you don't mind, so it isn't immediately useful. Maybe a bit of extra vagueness and maybe a touch of misinformation thrown in as well.

I assume I am not the only one having people from the peanut gallery come in and give me advice in a really vague way on how to run my country based on things they are reading in other players AARs?

I guess we can consider these people like intelligence agents whose information may or may not be reliable, based on gossip they overheard in foreign courts and taverns, all the same I would appreciate minimizing leaks until it is not as important.

[:D]

aprezto -> RE: PBEM 109 (8/21/2009 2:20:02 AM)

My peanut gallery have been particularly careful to attempt to give me generic help rather than anything that specifically related to the game. Or if specifically related to the game, in such a way as to be general. Being a noob I am particularly susceptible to rule infractions or misunderstandings.

Quote away by the way 06 Maestro.

06 Maestro -> RE: PBEM 109 (8/21/2009 3:34:19 AM)

Thanks for the permissions. I have been suddenly made aware of some startling info which I am afraid I should not even make my response public-for at least two turns.

The diplomacy in this little game can be a bit tricky-things are not what they appear to be.

I'am a nooby at this too-as I just had a good reminder of that. I shall have my vengence in this game, or the next.[;)]

06 Maestro -> RE: PBEM 109 (8/22/2009 4:19:32 AM)

The suspense is building-it has been 27 hours since I sent the turn away. I hope no one had an aneurysm. These are trying times. [;)]

Mus -> RE: PBEM 109 (8/22/2009 7:42:29 AM)

What are we waiting on?

IronWarrior -> RE: PBEM 109 (8/22/2009 9:01:31 AM)

Just need France.

By the way, there is something I need everyone's input on. At the conclusion of wars, we need to decide on whether or not to "teleport" our armies or withdraw them manually. I would like to avoid redoing/remerging turns if possible. I propose the following:

(A) We all agree to "teleporting" out at the conclusion of a war.

(B) We all agree to manually withdraw our forces at our own pace.

(C) Each of us decides seperately on A or B.

Whatever way we decide, I would like to have something predetermined for when this comes up. I am really averse to redoing turns. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Mus -> RE: PBEM 109 (8/22/2009 9:50:41 AM)

My suggestion would be that we notify the turn merger at the beginning of a war what we want as our default order.

If a specific situation changes our minds we immediately notify the turn merger.

This should prevent requirements to do turn redos.

I opened a wishlist item that they move this question about removing your forces to the START of your turn, much like making the decision to become an empire, and the movement then takes place in the turn after. And they would need to extend the free supply period for that to not result in attrition obviously, but anyone who likes the idea should chime in on the wish list thread.

Have a bunch of other items up there that might get seconded as well.

terje439 -> RE: PBEM 109 (8/22/2009 1:20:27 PM)

Replied.
