Has anyone actually received any new leaders through combat? Prussia usually gets a stack, I haven't received a single one.

I have received several-maybe a 1/2 dozen. The last guy had total attributes of 1 (one) point in moral. I think the game is done giving me generals.

06 Maestro -> RE: PBEM 109 (11/22/2010 6:32:53 PM)

Although it is no great surprise, it still seems incredible that the Czar would issue a DoW against the O.E. If the Czar new of the expenses that have been endured by the O.E. to help Russia he would fall on his knees and beg forgiveness. It can only be assumed that the Czar has gotten some bad vodka.

As for the Prussian; our little war was going to be allowed to lapse, but now you do this-stabbing your neighbor in the back. The O.E. has no desire to be Europe's policeman, but in this case it must step forward.

aprezto -> RE: PBEM 109 (11/22/2010 6:42:37 PM)

Stabbing in the back. At least I know I am being chastised by one who knows well how to do it.

Who did the stabbing to start our war?

None other than "Europe's Policeman" - seems to me she is 'on the take'.

[:D] What is that quote of Napoleon? "Never do what your enemy wants [or expects] simply because that is what he wants"? Something like that?

He should have one that warns of allies suddenly becoming enemies. Then again, he got caught by surprise at Leipzig by the Saxons (IIRC). Oh well, live and learn.[;)]

Anthropoid -> RE: PBEM 109 (11/23/2010 12:44:27 AM)

Yeah, and one about allies helping enemies too [;)]

Any ally who sits back and allows a formerly mutual enemy to attack was no actual ally in the first place.

There was a simple solution to that conflict, both before and after it started. However, you spurned all efforts to forestall or end the that war. My earlier efforts to form a real alliance also failed.

These actions belie the true intentions of the holy Czar. I knew you were drooling over Besserrabia since the last century-well come and get it! [:D]

06 Maestro -> RE: PBEM 109 (11/23/2010 8:19:07 AM)

Whoever thought it would have come to pass that the women of Vienna would be showing Ottoman troops with flowers.[:D]

Some of the troops had some nice new horse artillery-recently provided by the Prussian Army. [;)]

Please indulge me in pointing out to Turkey's current "allies" that, apparently from the Sultan's perspective, being "allied" by treaty with Turkey and France, and helping to defeat Austria did not constitute a "real alliance" (let us not forget that it was Russian troops who finally were able to occupy Vienna, not Turks . . .).

However, subsequent favoring of Austria over Russia by suggesting that Russia curtail her surrender terms and join an Ottoman-Austrian alliance _would_ have constituted a "real alliance" in the Sultan's mind.

Turkish loyalty and graciousness to those who have helped them to rise to the top of the food chain is spectacular to behold, no?

For us spectators this word war is almost as good as the battle on the field. [sm=00000613.gif]
