KG Erwin -> PS Demographics: Your Age, and Your Favorite Team? (6/16/2009 8:37:13 PM)

On June 17 I'll turn 52, and contrary to my BROOKLYN Dodgers avatar, my favorite modern team is the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Wrathchild -> RE: PS Demographics: Your Age, and Your Favorite Team? (6/16/2009 8:46:26 PM)

Happy Birthday! I just turned 41 this year (still feel 18) and grew up in the Finger Lakes of New York, where my favorite team was the legendary New York Yankees. I currently live in Reading, Pennsylvania, where I can mostly get Phillies games, and have become quite a watcher of them. That Raul Ibanez kicks some ass! I'll tell you, it was tough watching the Yankees-Phillies series this year as I didn't really know who to root for, as I barely know any of the current players for New York, being inundated with the World Champion Phillies!

CrashDavis -> RE: PS Demographics: Your Age, and Your Favorite Team? (6/16/2009 8:55:43 PM)

46, Cincinnati Reds, Chicago Cubs & St Louis Cardinals

KG Erwin -> RE: PS Demographics: Your Age, and Your Favorite Team? (6/16/2009 9:49:06 PM)

One of the reasons I'm doing this is to find out how many NL-type guys we have vs AL-types.

As for our ages, I believe that many of us are in the 40-55 age range. We'll see.

LetsPlay2 -> RE: PS Demographics: Your Age, and Your Favorite Team? (6/16/2009 10:16:28 PM)

I turned 53 on May 22. I lean toward the Cubbies, but my favorite is Major League Baseball !!

I'm 61, in 1956 (or so) I saw Mantle (on TV) hit a very very long home run to deep right center field in old Yankee Stadium. Then Yogi hit one off his shoe tops to right field in the next at bat in the same game. Made me a Yankee fan. Was a Yankee fan until the late 80's. I don't care for todays baseball. To many million dollar cry baby's. I prefer to play 50's & 60's. I do venture back into the 20's on occations.
Now all of you should feel better because you are not the oldest. [;)] [8|]

Die Hard Sox Fan.

I guess I fall into the expected age category as I am 42. My favorite team is the Cubbies.

rich12545 -> RE: PS Demographics: Your Age, and Your Favorite Team? (6/16/2009 11:28:59 PM)

63.  Favorite team is 1963 Dodgers.  Saw Koufax pitch at Dodger Stadium that year.

HotCornerDave -> RE: PS Demographics: Your Age, and Your Favorite Team? (6/16/2009 11:43:48 PM)

I'm 34. I don't really have a favorite major league team anymore, so I'll say the AAA Sacramento River Cats. My wife and I moved to Sacramento a couple years ago where I became a great fan of minor league baseball. My Father's Day gift this year is a trip to the ballpark with my wife and 7 month old daughter. It will be my daughter's first ballgame - first of many, I hope. I'm looking forward to it.

Nukester -> RE: PS Demographics: Your Age, and Your Favorite Team? (6/17/2009 1:11:51 AM)

Ill be 40 this year and I bleed Yankee pinstripes

Hi Dave,

Funny you mentioned that you will be taking your daughter to her first baseball game to see the RiverCats. My wife, daughter and I lived in Rocklin for about eight years (we have since moved back up north to Southwest Washington). My daughter's first baseball game was also the RiverCats, although she was about six at the time. Even stranger is that they were playing the Portland Beavers, who now she loves to go see.

33sherman -> RE: PS Demographics: Your Age, and Your Favorite Team? (6/17/2009 1:34:08 AM)

I'm from the mid-Hudson River valley in New York. Lifelong Yankees fan, though I lived in Boston for eight years and actually like the Sox as much as it's possible for me to (not head-to-head, of course). I turn 39 soon.

Another Bucs fan? Cool. Have you been to PNC Park? I have yet to visit it, but it's on my "bucket list". My last Pirates game was in 1986.

henry296 -> RE: PS Demographics: Your Age, and Your Favorite Team? (6/17/2009 3:59:44 AM)

I have been to PNC Park three times, but not for a couple of years.  I live in Charlotte now, so it is difficult to make it to games.

I'm 62, live in NE NY (+/- 210 road miles from Fenway, Yankee Stadium and Citi Field)
I'll go with the BoSox, Cubbies, Dodgers (before and after the move), Braves and Cards. My heart even softened towards the damnyankees with Torre and Jeter.

40 years old, and um... yeah.. [;)]

I always like to point out that it was the 1980 Phillies that made me fall in love with baseball, as I grew up in eastern PA.

Interesting. I worked in Willow Grove for a while. Well, actually, it was Ivyland.

Bustoff -> RE: PS Demographics: Your Age, and Your Favorite Team? (6/17/2009 9:08:55 PM)

I'll be 59 in a couple of months, and my favorite team for the past 50+ years is the St. Louis Cardinals. Shaking the hand of Stan the Man was one of my biggest thrills.

Fascinating how the age range is skewed toward "older" (but not old [;)]) players. And are there any females among us?

That's funny. Considering some of the posts in this thread, it is starting to look like a small world after all. I moved to California years ago from southeast Washington - Richland to be exact. I grew up a Mariners fan, but I lost touch after being away for so long and only getting to watch the A's and Giants on TV. I've tried and tried to take to the A's, but I just can't (what self-respecting Mariners fan could? [;)]). Although, I have enjoyed watching the Giants the last couple seasons. The Bonds hype of years past turned me off to the Giants, but I like the new team. I actually thought they would do well this season, and so far they aren't making me look like an idiot - yet. Anyway, until I find my major league identity, I'll stick with the River Cats.

KG Erwin -> RE: PS Demographics: Your Age, and Your Favorite Team? (6/17/2009 10:30:10 PM)

Ok, I did NOT specify a fave minor-league team, so in "A" it's the West Virginia Power. They are now affiliated with the Pirates, which helps. Appalachian Power Park is just a few blocks away from where I work in downtown Charleston.

I used to go to old Watt Powell Park in Kanawha City (a few miles east of Charleston) and watch the Wheelers, who later became the Alley Cats. The Alley Cats moved to downtown and became the Power.
