Well this is what happened: Until recently, I owned a pretty good Windows gaming machine. But you know what, for a variety of reasons, I got fed up with windows. I sold this computer and bought an iMac. I already own an xbox 360 and I thought to myself "the xbox is enough to entertain me; I don't need a windows machine."

That's almost 99% true. I don't miss any Windows game...except FoF. I think the developers should feel complimented by this.

Sooooo my question is, is there any way for me to play this game now? I remember I bought it online so I assume I can download it again. Is there a free or low cost way to play windows games on my Mac? I don't really know anything about emulators or Macs (I've only owned the iMac for a month or so).

I would really appreciate any help because I miss the tactical battles in FoF. I was reading about cavalry tactics on wikipedia and I thought, "awww, why did I sell that machine?"

Stevekl,
Thank you for your comments, which are great to read. I do know that people play the game on Macs, since every once in a while someone mentions that they're doing so.

It so happens that I've asked the same question you are. Perhaps this thread will help: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2018516

You are going to very happy with your iMac! About two years ago, I bought a MacBook Pro. My wife and I owned about 7 PCs - all Windows based machines (law firm). Eventually, all but one of these machines met with, what we felt was, an early demise. As time passed, I pulled hard drives from dead machines and installed them into still working machines. Eventually, I had more hard drives than machines. Ultimately, I had more hard drives than I could install in machines.

I have been lurking about on these forums since 2003. Your question has compelled me to register.

YES! You can play these games (kinda) in OSX. What I did is partition my hard drive and install Windows XP on the "dark side" of the disk. I just start the machine holding down the "option" key and I get the option to boot in OSX or jump into the abyss (windows). Your machine can handle windows based software as simple as that.

You can also try a couple of the software programs written for this purpose - "Parallels" or "Crossover." I am not going to recommend either, but your Apple Store Expert will. I tried Crossover and wasn't all that satisfied. Of course two years have passed, and perhaps the software is better. You will enjoy the irony of running Windows in a window on your Mac. I just prefer to re-boot. These machines are so fast, you can re-boot before you finish you bathroom breaks anyway.

One thing you may want to do is buy a couple of USB data sticks. This gives me an easy work around to download from the OSX side and then re-boot to the dark side move the data to the windows desktop and then install. I do this so I never have to go online in Windows. (No anti-virus software needed).

Last, make sure you dedicate a large portion of hard drive space to the dark side. I understand that several new titles are on the verge of release. [;)]
