Hey guys,

you know when you have an artillery unit with several different pieces of equipment all with different ranges, AFAIK the range displayed on the unit is that of the longest range gun. So the Q is - when you give the unit a fire mission - do all the pieces fire, or only those 'in range'. (Say i'm 6 hexes away from a target. The art unit contains 1 gun with range of 6 and another with a range of 4. Will both guns fire at the target or just the one?).

Only the guns in range will add to the bombardment. Important to know.

Hmmm, I suspected as much and indeed it does change things!

However on the detailed combat report the guns which didn't fire still show up as having taken part. That's what had me confused.

All the guns will be subject to destruction via counterbattery fire, regardless of being in range. So, in that sense, they did participate (as targets).

I don't suppose that range thingy can be set to display the range of the shortest indirect gun rather than the longest?

What would really be great for differing equipment ranges is some kind of panel that could be opened by the gamer to show the various strengths at the differing ranges.  Or maybe it would be best if the scenario designer just designed their scenarios with differing equipment in different units so that all the organic equipment in one unit had the same range.  Just a thought.
