On my stone age inkjet, I can't seem to tone down the UV symbol appearing on all the pages. It prints dark black totally obliterating the text underneath. Any ideas?

Two suggestions from previous threads on this. Make sure you have the most up to date version of Acrobat and check "Print as Image".

Yes, just select "print as image" you'll hardly notice the UV after. Give yourself half a day and fight the urge to stop halfway :D

One other thing may help. I printed the whole manual, double-sided" on my Epson Stylus Color 600. I selected the "Color Enhance" option as the sea pictures where somewhat green. This option matched the color perfect to what I was seeing on the monitor.

BTW, I don't know what all the complaints have been about the cost of printing the manual. I used just slightly less than one whole color cartridge and about 2/3's of a black cartridge on Fine 720dpi setting. I get my carts from Myinks.com. $8.95 for black, $10.95 for color. By printing double-sided I saved a few branches from the rainforest as well. Sting would be so proud ...
