mavnb -> new bug? (6/27/2009 5:31:32 PM)

Hello,

In ww3 v63 and At 1.22 I lose 75 to 80% of all cargo that
I transfer from HQ to HQ overseas. Realistic?[&:]

Hi there,

First of all i do not support unoffical or user made scenarios.

But i think the cause of your losses must be some enemy ships or subs en route or even blocking sending or receiving harbour.

kind reg,
vic

No problem man.
Check on the map (with supply layer on) where you lost the transfers and you'll probably find an enemy fleet (or airunit) close to those hexes.

Hi

As the creator of the scenario i can only say that there should not be any purposly made major changes to the anti shipping values. So check with your opponent if he has some navy in the area.

There could be some bug. But i havent heard of it. If it repeats itself i will look into it. As of now i agree with Vic.

Hello,

The loses were done turn 1 for Nato so no
russian troops anywhere. Same for USA as I did turns 1-2-3
of the gmae without moving any Warsaw troops. I even tried
to recon to see if it would prevent it and it did not.
Maybe you can start a game and do 2-3 turns to see by yourself.

Where did you transfer from and to where, using which navy?

There are (among other things) a navy in cuba.

What is the name of the version of scenario you are using?

Hi

moved 20 NATO staff on round 1 to london. No dead.

Then there is the USSR turn before US so actually anything can happen. Also 2 USSR wolfpacks start in the atlantic ocean. I did transfer from NY to fourth and got a lot of losses, but thats most likely because of the Wolfpacks.

I thinks its your opponent causing the losses, not any bug.

mavnb -> RE: new bug? (6/30/2009 1:35:01 AM)

I hope it is that. thanks
for all the work.

RufusTFirefly -> RE: new bug? (7/1/2009 5:46:13 PM)

Hi there,

I am the opponent of mavnb.

When he told me he had high losses I thought of subs operating in the sea. In first turn I sent out subs of USSR and China. They are now somewhere in the Japanese seas, mid Pacific or nothern areas. So, you should send units across the Pacific by automatic transfer. [:'(] You have to use convoys ... and I will hunt them!

But concerning losses of units that mavnb sent to Europe I guess I caused some confusion. I told mavnb that I had not sent WP subs to the Atlantic. So I was thinking about a bug or wrong settings of supply losses too. But I overlooked the sub groups that are already placed in the Atlantic when the game starts. So mavnb could not know that they are operating there, he got wrong information from my side. Sry, for that confusion.

But I think this is a good point to keep in mind for all those who play this scenario the first time. Beware of enemy subs on your supply lines.

So, mavnb, keep on sending units by automatic transfer. My subs are much more successful operating automaticly as in case I would drive them directly. [:D]

This is not only a problem of this special scenario. This is the case in almost all random games and other scenarios
with ships included.

How to work around ?

1. Find the places where the AS damage was done to get an idea where the subs are
(marked on the waters by red marks with values inside)

2. Finding them:
Using recon planes or destroyer patrols.

3. Sinking them by air or destroyer attack

4. If 3 doesn´t work you have to set up a new supply line going thru other waters. Or simply close that
supply line until the subs are dead.

RufusTFirefly -> RE: new bug? (7/1/2009 7:11:05 PM)

Hey, could you please give mavnb a chance to find his own way to deal with my subs? I already see them drowning now [X(]

Ok, to be serious. Fully agree with your manual. In scenarios like WWIII it is important care for a destroyer fleet. Although they are weak in shore bombardment and ship-to-ship battles (which are of course not their tasks at all), they play an important role in the fight for the Pacific.

seille -> RE: new bug? (7/1/2009 7:56:14 PM)

Marc is a friend of mine, so i could also have sent him a more detailled email  [:D]

I never played the ww3 scenario, but recon flights and/or destroyers should do the job.
Key is finding the subs.
