Helloooo

Why the designers of this great game have not included Japanese Rita's and Kika's?

If the game lasts until 1946 why not?

It would have been a nice adition ..........and even more if you play the winning side.

The Allied aircraft development string ends in late 1944. But, rest easy, I'm sure the JFBs influencing the development of AE will be sure to give you plenty of advanced toys to play with, while those imbecile American aircraft designers take it in the shorts again.

Even if they don't, I hear that the AE editor is very powerful, so you can fly over any rainbow you want, Dorothy (and while you're at it, take that annoying little dog with you, okay?)

By that extension why isn't the P-80, BT2D, F8F, F8B, F5U, P-75, FD Phantom, F7F, AF/SF Guardian, FR Fireball, P4M, P5M, TBY Sea Wolf, YB-35, B-36, B-45, P-59, P-82, Meteor, Brigand, Lincoln, Washington, Vampire, Sea Hornet, Sea Hawk Wyvern, MiG-9, La-9, La-11, Yak-15.
The simple reason is that none of these aircraft would of been ready for serious combat operations in squadron service by the time the game ends.

In September 45 the Midway was working up and would embark an airgroup made up of about 55% F4U, and about 45% SB2C. The short/medium term plan was to change types to the F8F and AD/BT2D/AM/TBY - eventually the AD won that contest.

Also, there was a plan to remove the TBF/Ms from the CVLs and make them dedicated fighter carriers. The smaller size of the F8F (than the F6F) meant they could spot 48 F8Fs.

The dedicated torpedo bomber was on the way out in favour of the 'attack' aircraft at the time of the surrender, so its resaonable to suggest that some of the types you refer to would have been in squadron service by the time of Coronet, although not Olympic.

Now now, Pas, be kind... There's plenty of advanced aircraft on both sides in AE.

You also have to keep in mind that the A1-D Skyraider was being planned as a combination Dive/Torpedo bomber replacement for both the SB2C and TBM/TBF. Production started in December 1945 with the aircraft being delivered to operational squadrons shortly there after.

If the Allied player had some R&D capability, they could possibly bump that up to September/October production. Even a JFB like me thinks that is an oversight.

Another historical tidbit: The last confirmed propellor driven air to air kill was made by an A1-D Skyraider during the Vietnam war when a pair of them shot down a MiG-17.
