That's a very interesting question... War is deadly combat between nations "the continuation of diplomacy by other means". "Wargame" is [I]simulated[/I] war at various scales. The purpose can be either for professional training or modeling purposes, or for recreational purposes (which is what we do). I guess the argument could be made that checkers or chess are wargames, but to me that's a little too abstract. Wargames are the simulation of military combat (formal or informal) between nations, with military formations explicitly defined.
