sargemule -> Invalid/Missing Serial key (7/13/2009 10:10:58 PM)

Hi

I bought the game for almost 2 years ago, and due to work haven't played for a while.

I tried to install and play the game, and then it freezes and says:
There is an error with your serial number

Please contact support@matrixgames.com for assistance
Error Code : -1073741819

I have read the thread:
http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=1819635&mpage=1&key=earmsrez

What should I do???

I had the same problem. Try installing v1.0 and then patching up to the level you want. If this doesn't work try uninstalling (not disabling) your antivirus program, install v1.0, patch, and re-install your AV.

That's what I had to do.

No Dice

Yuck!
What AV are you using?

sargemule -> RE: Invalid/Missing Serial key (7/14/2009 4:09:02 PM)

Okay I'll try that

But I think it's strange that AVG has an influence whether i can play the game, since it says the serial number is illegal or missing

The install is not completing properly IF there is a serial number issue???
What O/S are you using?

Vista [&:]

Are you installing with admin rights?
Check your add/remove programs section and see if EiA is in there.

You need to be installing and playing as an Administrator on Vista. You also need to make sure any anti-virus/security apps are off when you install. FWIW, on default settings AVG causes no issues here, but we've found that some such apps prevent the serial number system from working. Either they prevent the installer from setting it up properly during installation or they prevent the game from checking it when it runs. Either way, this only happens if something else has interfered with the installation or the execution of the game, or if you have somehow restricted your permission to run things on the user account you're using.

I am using Trend Micro Internet Security 2009. I'm not sure that's the issue though. If it comes up again then I will try installing v1.0 and patching with the AV turned on.

No Dice

I tried using with admin but no game. Then I made it compatible with XP and the laptop works. have also installed it on the desktop and it works now.....

Must have been something during the installation process, but thanks to everyone, who has tried to help me.

I will now saddle my horse and charge the fields of glory[:)]
