elpaco -> Victory Points trouble (7/16/2009 8:56:02 AM)

Hi,

I don't understand what happened in the following VP calculation. If anyone can explain, I would appreciate, thanks in advance :

I play the japanese in The Campaign in vanilla, last patch, starting Dec.7

On the 5th of May 1942, I take Manilla
Manilla is worth 1200 VP for the allied player, 60 for the japanese as one can see

No other base changes hand during this turn

Only one base upgrades its airfield during this turn : Wyndham which is japanese controlled

Unless I miss something, the allied VP for bases control should go down by 1200 VP
the japanese VP should go up by 80 VP : 60 VP for Manilla, 20 VP for wyndham (10 * 2 for an airfield)

Actually,
the allied VP for bases control has only gone down by 306 points ????

any idea ?

many thanks

I try to upload a few pic : the manilla situation, the information board on the 5th and 6th of may which shows that only one base changes hand and the VP differences ...

If you play versus the AI, take care that it build every base it can, so the value for base that don't have changed side can increase. It's maybe something like that, but veterans players will help you more

it is a pbem game

and according to the opertion report, as I said, the only other base which added a level of airfield or port during this turn is wyndham

I believe, and am often wrong,

That the VP you receive depend on the supply state at bases, in the Green more points than at a base in the Red.

Check the manual.

Yep - supply at base will drastically effect the Victory Points for the base... so, if supply at Manila was low before it fell (i'm betting this was the case), you wouldn't have anywhere near the full 1200 VP points calculated toward the total... i forget the penalities, but it is 50% for mild undersupply, iirc, and more for major undersupply.

Also, supply at OTHER bases can drastically effect VP point totals, so the shift of 100 supply at a major base can shift supply from white to pink (or vice versa)... this can VP points vary for bases several hundred points per day without much seemingly going on.

thanks for your help

I have checked the manual which says that a base with 0 supply scores 25% of the total VP, a base with needed supplies scores 100%, and a base with supplies in between scores ...in between [:D]

in my example, manille scored 306 points for the allies before I took it, which is very close to the 25% minimum (at 300), meaning, the supply was close to 0 ...

good to know as I still have to take Clark Field [:)]
