double post...apologies...I am on my wife's laptop as opposed to my processing beast at the house.

rogueusmc -> RE: War in the Pacific: Admiral's Edition Game Manual! (7/19/2009 6:53:56 PM)

it's asking me for a login and password for ftp2.matrixgames.com??

Terminus -> RE: War in the Pacific: Admiral's Edition Game Manual! (7/19/2009 6:56:12 PM)

There seems to be some issue with Matrix's ftp, so until they get back to work on Monday, I'm going to revive a former tradition of mine and provide a mirror site for the manual. It'll be taken down again once the official ftp is 100%.

REMOVED.

roast Terminus steaks, burgers and what not.

Sounds like stuff that could make you terminally ill.

Enjoy and thanks for your support. [8D]

I'll say this for it: it's better than I was afraid it would be after the sample.

Still, you need to be careful about having people whose primary language is not English writing manual inclusions in English.

I'm sure you have delighted at the assembly instructions included with consumer goods manufactured in PRC...

LargeSlowTarget -> RE: War in the Pacific: Admiral's Edition Game Manual! (7/21/2009 2:22:52 PM)

Clarification needed on page 63:  Caption says 5.1.3.10 GROUND WITHDRAWAL SCHEDULE (HOTKEY G) but the text that follows says:  The Ground Reinforcement Schedule lists all ground units that are expected to be withdrawn in the near future. From left to right, each unit’s Type (INF for Infantry, HQ for Headquarters, etc.), unit Name, which HQ it is Attached to when it arrives on map, the unit’s Assault value, current location, the number of Days Until Arrival, and Withdrawal.
The Load cost, Port of Arrival, and Days Until Arrival columns can help the player plan on having transport in that port for the day the reinforcements arrive, so that they may be immediately loaded and moved wherever needed.
Along the top of the screen is a list of ground unit types, which are not abbreviated and are self-explanatory. Click on each to bring up a list that pertains to that ground unit type. Clicking on any of the yellow column headers at the top will sort the list by that item.
The "Days until …" delay is shown in days up to 90 days. After that, the delay is shown as an actual date (day month year),

The text is a near repeat of the preceeding section on reinforcements and actually gives no information on how LCU withdrawals are handled, e.g. where the units have to be in order to withdraw or what penalties to expect. It seems there has been some mix-up?

Speedysteve -> RE: War in the Pacific: Admiral's Edition Game Manual! (7/21/2009 3:11:42 PM)

Not sure if this has been noted but there are duplicate sections on pages 62-63 whereby the "Ground Withdrawal Schedule" has the same text as the previous section "Ground Reinforcement Schedule".

LargeSlowTarget -> RE: War in the Pacific: Admiral's Edition Game Manual! (7/21/2009 3:29:09 PM)

Check the post above yours [;)]

Speedysteve -> RE: War in the Pacific: Admiral's Edition Game Manual! (7/21/2009 3:52:32 PM)

You act as if English as a first language is the only prerequisite to decent English skills[:-]. Some companies, however, do hire professional writers to do their manuals. In fact, IIRC Dominions three went that route. As a consequence, the manual was a joy to read. Now if only Matrix games had the budget to do the same...

Back to the thread, i thought the AE manual, overall, was quite good.

Andy Mac -> RE: War in the Pacific: Admiral's Edition Game Manual! (7/22/2009 6:36:08 PM)

Just to be clear LCU withdrawals are AUTOMATIC wherever the unit is whatever condition its in it dissapears when its date arrives there are pluses and minuses to every system the land system went for the simple solution so no micromanagement required.

HELP! I'm serious. I just went over there and only ONE of my games shows up! Panzer Command-Kharkov. I own NINE of your games, including the most important WITP!!! Is it perhaps that my e-mail address had changed (actually more than once over the purchase time of the nine games.)? What do I need to do to get ahold of the "manual", not to mention the very important DISCOUNT coming up for WITP-AE!

Odin -> RE: War in the Pacific: Admiral's Edition Game Manual! (7/23/2009 8:04:03 AM)

I am unable to print it.[:(]

When i will print it, even a single paper, it tooks MINUTES before the printer is working...printer job list show me 0,5 of 8,2MB send and so on.

Even for a single paper out of a pdf..

kaleun -> RE: War in the Pacific: Admiral's Edition Game Manual! (7/23/2009 1:48:57 PM)

I got it to print. No problem.

Except for using up one full color ink cartridge (and half of the next one)[X(]

Flying Tiger -> RE: War in the Pacific: Admiral's Edition Game Manual! (7/23/2009 3:18:19 PM)

and now....what do you do with 330 pages of printout?? Unless you happen to run a printshop and have some book binding tools handy?? I just imagined the chaos of me screaming at the kids, "who stole page 174!!!".

i read it onscreen, and will wait for the printed version in the box.

cgoddard -> RE: War in the Pacific: Admiral's Edition Game Manual! (7/23/2009 3:26:07 PM)

Link does not work in IE8 - anyone else had this issue

I did a printout also. Need something to read when riding the train on my way from and to work. If you do double sided printing its only 165 pages which.

Please contact our Help Desk at www.matrixgames.com/helpdesk for assistance with your Members Club account.

Note that you only need your serial number to get the discount. Registration is just a good idea to keep your serial number in a safe place and to get access to beta updates and things like the manual preview.

I printed it out at four sheets per page. It's still legible (although barely) at that size.

Rik81 -> RE: War in the Pacific: Admiral's Edition Game Manual! (7/23/2009 5:31:38 PM)

Not sure how it happened, but I got a hold of the manual and saved it on my computer.
