Do you realise how STUPID we are in North America???

For all the negativity that the American press et al pour onto Europe they have a STANDARD SIX WEEK vacation package as a yearly right for their workers!

Boy have we been hosed in North America!

What are you talking about? I had only something like 20-25 days per year off work (it goes a little upwards with age to some 25 days + what employer grants you a bonus). Where can I ask for my additional two weeks? [:D]

Comes from people in North America ignorantly persisting in thinking of all Europeans as somehow being members of one giant nation.

For the 7,943rd time, the EU does not decide everything!

...so nearly 30 percent of your posts have to do with what the EU controls? No wonder they are so terse...

No.

No , we don't think of the EU as a nation. People tell their country where to go every day. We think of it as an international labor union. And everybody is TERRIFIED of labor unions. Any debate can immediately and totally be shut down by saying the simple but terrifying words , "can't do that , unions rules forbid it". More dangerous and frightening than a governement, organization or even a wife having "her time of the month"! [:D]

Terminus -> RE: Does no one in this forum work? (7/19/2009 9:25:32 PM)

It's also not that. The EU is a squabbling debate society, which Germany and France each wish they could dominate.

I actually feel just the opposite. Let my competitors take six weeks off. I take off maybe 2, I like what I do, and have an extra month to take their clients, make more dough and learn more. But I guess to each his own [:)]

Pah! Just about everyone else describes his job as "soul crushing."

It's people like you who ruin ironic and sarcastic workplace humor at the expense of the nincompoops who run everything and the nitwits who aspire to be the next generation of such nincompoops.

When repairing a fouled head becomes a hobby, I'll shoot my self.

Port Townsend is in Washington state. Just west of where the Puget Sound meets the Straight of Juan de Fuca (though the toes are in Nawiliwili harbor.)

And upon further reflection, I think I'll shoot myself before repairing fouled heads become a hobby.

Yes I recall many happy afternoons spent there a couple of years ago (it was my favorite day trip from Bremmerton). Repairing fouled heads make your hobby possible.....

OK, what aspect of politics did we breach? [X(] And where do differences of culture end and politics begin? I'm not looking to stray over the line, but I for one would like to know where the lines are. [&:]

My wife told me I'll be working until they throw me in the box. So I find plenty of time to play too![8D]

Our wives must know each other. And my mother. My dad worked full time until he was 75 ( he is now 80 ). And, with my mother's prompting , part of his retire package contains a clause that he keeps an office with them as long as he wants. So he still goes into to the office most days from around 8:30 untill noon or so. Talks to a few of his old customers, talks to a few of the senior execs, and reads the Wall Street Journal. My mom says that if he wasn't out of the house for 4 hours a day she might kill him. As they have been married for 55 years I THINK she is joking.

Well, I suppose us guys can be a nuisance from time to time.[;)]

It wasn't about politics. It was a statement of fact. You obviously couldn't tell the difference.

Not all nations in EU have std 6 week holiday most have less

Nikademus -> RE: Does no one in this forum work? (7/20/2009 12:36:09 AM)

2 jobs (including AE work)........a job hunt, 2 horses and a pitbull to deal with.

Oh and managing the GF unit is a full time job of itself. Make that 3 jobs.

oldman45 -> RE: Does no one in this forum work? (7/20/2009 12:50:07 AM)

I work a couple of hours a day out of the house, so lets get AE out to the masses so I have more to do during the day [8D]

I agree 100%! Whoever brought up the subject of the EU and who is trying to dominate it, should be slapped down. We can't tolerate that sort of thing!

Steve, old paint, this is the way I see it.

Current politics and religion are part of what will eventually be called "history." Discussion of history is permitted, even encouraged, here. Discussion of politics and religion is not....

Maybe it's the "currentness."

madgamer2 -> RE: Does no one in this forum work? (7/20/2009 1:18:35 AM)
