Originally posted by Montanan As someone who reads these message boards so my questions can be answered, i was taken aback by David Heaths Matrix Staff smart mouth comment about "RTFM". I dont have time for crap and rude game companies. Ive been playing wargames/strategy since the 70's. I spent more on Uncommon Valor than any game in rescent years. Trying to give wargames another chance with UV. And to read where some staffer replies to an honest question with slang is unprofessional, stains 2x3 software and reflects poorly on the maturity level of Matrix. I read the UV manual pdf, no printed manual for a $50+s/h wargame?? c'mon... ....and i certainly dont have the manual memorized. As someone who has 60 hour week job, wife , and 3 kids, i had the same question as this Kamersky guy who started this thread did. Please refrain from the smart mouth replies and show a lil patience and professionalism with your customers. And yes i realize questions to matrix/companies can often be asked in a more polite/respectful manner. However, If forums are for "EXperts ONLY", consider posting them as such. In any event, the game is still new for many of us, a simple "refer to page # in the PDF" is all that was needed. Montanan
Montanan & others : Some things you might not be aware of, which is fine. 1. I've been playing wargames since the 70s too ;) 2. I've spent money on computer "wargame" by other companies and in fact had to pray for a patch that never came, dealt with really dumb implementations, complete illogic, total misunderstandings of basic things like logistics, combat, etc. 3. So over the years I got fed up too, and lowered my expectations into the negative realm. 4. Matrix is not like the other companies. Grigsby understands war and knows how to design, the company takes feedback, even guff, very well, turnaround on implementation is relatively good, etc etc. 5. All this goodness comes as a shock to me after so many years of this community, which in large measure STARTED the computer gaming industry, being ignored. 6. So, give Matrix another chance. Believe me, and you know this, you would in fact be doing *yourself* a disservice if you did not. 7. Like everyone, Matrix is composed of humans. Humans generally get tired of comments that are accusing them of being and doing what they are not and have not done. 8. Kerensky himself said he READ the manual about transport loading and simply forgot about it because he doesn't agree with the sequence in the implementation. Yet he still had the gall to come on here and say its a bug and its stupid, etc. 9. Not only that, this was like the FOURTH thread on this issue, each one of them started by people who either don't understand wargames at all, don't understand naval processes at all, didn't read the manual, etc. 10. How would you have reacted ;) I think Matrix gets a medal for not becoming frothy-mouth rabid. 11. Anyway, you are among brothers here, so brothers sometimes throw snot balls at each other. No big.
