Version Q Changes

Download at http://www.advancedtactics.org/scenario.php?nr=82

Night Bombers eliminated (for now, until I can do more tests under many different conditions)
Weather effects not quite as harsh
Italians now have lower starting morale instead of lower combat versus British
Italian navy starting port now randomized
Partisans enter game with slightly lower XP
Action card with map to check if West’s non-evacuation conditions of France are being met
Coastal Artillery no longer able to fire against air attacks
Bombed cities auto-recover slightly quicker

Still playing version P. I havn't looked at Q yet but those changes all sound about right.

Weather effects in particular can be very harsh. I might suggest (If it is possible) to giving air units a pass on the rediness penality in the winter turns.
This could give the British a huge advantage in the airwar since Souther England is never effected by winter and France and Germany are. The Brits pretty much own the sky during winter months.

Some suggestions.

The Soviet does not seem to wake up automatically in 1941, as the briefing suggests. My opponent waited until 42 to declare war, and the Soviets didnt wake up until attacked. Needless to say, their puny force is nowhere near being up to the task of defending so far, and pretty much every factory west of the Urals has been bombed by level bombers, lacking any air defenses whatsoever. Fix the wake up problem, or give more cities basic (air) defense installed.

The Soviets can send supplies to China, but they end up in the Warlords HQ, which is far from able to send the supply on to the armies, even if you'd go through the huge pain of building a road there. This might be the same in the original WaW if I remember right. The west also have the option to send supplies, which work.

I agree with the comments about the air and the readiness hits, maybe make France not being hit by winter.

Oh

Just started a PBEM with version Q. Should we pause the game before we get to far?
Still 1.09.39

Wouldn't be right playing knowing the SU poses no real threat to my Wehrmacht.

Also, the new Soviet factories in the east can only build artillery or transport. No infantry, no tanks, no new supply (so far).

I'd say that since the Soviets did not wake up when supposed, they have no chance to defend at all, since they have an army barely bigger than that of the Polish [:D]

OK all, sorry for the frustrations you must be experiencing.
On 8/4/09, 11:00 a.m. PST (GMT -8) I posted fixes for all of this except no readiness loss for air.
You can only reduce readiness loss by landscape type, an entire geographical area you designate, or by regime, not be type of unit, unfortunately.
So this will be one of the many ways Revised is not very historical.

Soviet Awakening: Simple typing error on my part, but what a major effect [:(]

Soviet Factories: Held over from 33d, but with the new peoples being used instead of everybody being universal people, this was one more overlooked effect of creating peoples such as Russian, British, etc...

Soviet Aid to China: Also unaltered from 33d. New method is simply China has to be in possession of the beginning (Urumchi) and end (Lanzhou) of the road used to distribute that aid, and if so, aid will be delivered to Chungking.

Thanks for all your help in finding problems and for your patience.

I'd restart if I were you. My apologies for the inconvenience, but you're not too far along.

Appreciate all the effort you put into updating this scenario, sure, it is a bit annoying to find out that you have to abort a war due to bugs, but we can live with that. Keep up the good work. [8D]

Hey guys.
Just updated everything reflecting your (and some others not posted) recommendations.

See http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2194235 for list of changes. Now version R posted in sandbox

I had 2 complaints (not posted) that when I added Glasgow AND virtually eliminated winter in UK, UK no longer had to struggle for supply early in the war, which was a huge factor, and the cause of the Battle for the North Atlantic. So I chose to eliminate Glasgow instead of reinstate UK winter. Time will tell how well or poorly balanced this solution is.
