gbotto600 -> Blitzkrieg! Cool new RTS coming out! (6/3/2002 4:19:53 AM)

This game looks to be a good mix of realism and fun :)

Maybe some of you SP:WaW guys will like it! :)

----------------------

Eisenhower, Rommel, Zhukov; Assume your rightful place among the great generals commanding the Allies, Germans or Soviets as they advance through the decisive battles of WWII. Blitzkrieg is the latest development in WWII real-time strategy gaming combining flexibility, historic accuracy and endless playability into one of the most challenging and enjoyable games yet!

Blitzkrieg's unique and completely flexible campaign structure puts you in control of deciding how your forces will fare in each of the major engagements that comprise three central Campaigns. Hardcore vets have the option of engaging the enemy immediately in a desperate struggle for battlefield dominance, or more cautious players can choose from pre-defined or unlimited randomly generated side missions as they gain experience, promotions and weapons upgrades as well as wear down the enemy before the central conflict.

Historical accuracy is pushed to the edge as each unit is endowed with the actual capabilities and characteristics that existed at the time. Details such as the thickness of a tank's armor down to the range of infantry rifles add a level of previously unprecedented realism. Each campaign has been meticulously researched to provide an accurate depiction of the battles that took place, while still maintaining the flexibility (and fun!) necessary to let you play the way you want.

Two robust editors are Blitzkrieg's keys to unlocking endless game play possibilities. The Mission Editor allows you to generate and add your own missions, chapters and campaigns according to the options you want most, from level of difficulty to type of action. The Resource Editor gives you total license to redesign the game, add or modify units, characteristics, colors, textures, sounds and more - unlimited freedom to play the game on your terms.

Key Features:
-Flexible campaign structure that frees you from standard difficulty and level settings

-Historically accurate campaigns where you lead the Allies, Germans or Soviets through actual WWII battles in real time

-Mission and Resource editors let you create new campaigns, chapters and missions as well as completely modify the game environment and units

-Realistically rendered 3D terrain including over 350 various buildings and objects

-Command over 200 types of military vehicles and equipment and more than 40 different infantry units that interact naturally, based on their actual physical properties and characteristics.

-Build bridges, dig trenches and pits, lay mines, resupply and repair units and call in air support when needed

-Battles feature different seasons, climate zones, and weather conditions that affect game play

NaKATPase -> (6/3/2002 5:27:22 AM)

strangely, I can't stand "historical" real time games...

Maybe if blizzard made one....

*goes back to playing starcraft*

Charles2222 -> (6/3/2002 5:42:16 AM)

IT's just a spruced-up Sudden Strike, army men with lifebars.:(

gbotto600 -> (6/3/2002 5:51:08 AM)

it has so much over SS though

and from what i've seen its going to be alot better than SS and the combat is alot more realisitc (no more AT-rifles killing Panthers.. no more 'rambo' infantry etc..)

plus it has fully editior support, so if its too cartoonish for you or whatever, just open the editor and change/add the stats

:)

ZeroAntipop -> (6/3/2002 6:50:55 AM)

He has a point, it does look strikingly like Sudden Strike.

gbotto600 -> (6/3/2002 6:54:40 AM)

the same company (CDV) is publishing it i believe

ZeroAntipop -> (6/3/2002 7:01:59 AM)

Oh, well then it's SS3 then. . .I'm looking forward to American Conquest and Cossacks 2: Nappy Wars.

gbotto600 -> (6/3/2002 7:09:02 AM)

yea, Cossacks 2 is going to be good :cool: :D

Supervisor -> (6/3/2002 8:59:34 AM)

Beautiful graphics though.

Fallschirmjager -> (6/3/2002 9:51:48 AM)

This isnt SS?
Im serious I thought it was at first.

It looks exactly like SS.

ZeroAntipop -> (6/3/2002 2:29:48 PM)

Why is everyone talking about the SS? ;)

Jasper -> (6/3/2002 7:53:42 PM)

Another Child play game........more like an acrade than real tactical game

WhiteRook -> (6/4/2002 7:42:24 AM)

Yeah, they may be simple - but ya know what - they are also fun to play! I have enjoyed every dime spent on CDV's games. They are rapidly filling a hole that was left in my gaming platter after TalonSoft went to crap! :D

gbotto600 -> (6/4/2002 8:41:05 AM)

Yea, when my friends come over we usally play alot of Cossacks and Sudden Strike over my little home LAN, and we have a really fun time

WhiteRook -> (6/5/2002 9:48:58 AM)

Yeah, they have some darn fine games going! ;)
I am kind of the exception to the rule on these fourms, I like a wide variety of games. Exceptions being long puzzle games like Myst, or your twitch and flit arcade games.
I am hardcore but not a "Grog". I would be too stereotyped by that term. Besides I can be forgiving were a normal hardcore gamer would not! :D As long as I am entertained - I am happy!

rich12545 -> (6/6/2002 2:49:08 AM)

The interesting thing about Sudden Strike is if you download the free APRM mod it turns into a very realistic real time strategy game. No more killing Panthers with rifles. And SuSt 2 is coming out which will include the Pacific theater. APRM will have their mod for that too.
