I just pre-ordered Civ5 from Amazon

Civ IV was the first of the series that I never played. What was your take?

I enjoyed it.

Grollub -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (8/13/2010 10:55:44 PM)

Civ4 was actually the first one I bought after the original. Skipped #2 & #3. I enjoyed it as well.

VSWG -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (8/13/2010 11:02:01 PM)

Tithe... [&o]

VSWG -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (8/13/2010 11:03:14 PM)

Looking forward to Civ5 too. Civ4 was IMO quite good, a lot better than Civ3.

i called my jez something far less endearing...especially when doing MAD ops and the SOB would shout "Erection detection!" into his headset when making contact...[8|]

here's another happy b-day wish, steve...i think the first one got lost in my logging efforts a few pages ago...[:D]

Thanks again! [:)] Funny thing in most of the squadrons I was in SS#1+SS#2 gone on great with the NFO's , but just about every SS#3 was at war with them (the NFO's) . SS#3's gone on great with the PPC,1P,2P , but the jez operator's often didn't. Never understood this. My last crew was different. ALL the AW's hated the "No-p's" (NFO's). [:D]

No. Sensor 1+2 were the acoustic Jez operators , Sensor #3 (me) was the RADAR,ESM,MAD and FLIR operator. Ditching station #8 in the P-3C , and I for get the ditching station in the P-3A and P-3B , but he was 1st on the rail ,nearest to the flight station.

Actually I didn't, a lot of our crews were dual qualified, and those who weren't often took turns operating the other station (it help out a lot on rating exams). My crew was notorious for yelling stuff over the ICS... intended to screw up the rest of the crew. My entire crew had a particular animosity to our TACCO and would call out bogus periscope sightings. On counter drug ops, cross countries, we once even called it while transiting over the great lakes. That came back and bit us during the 1st Gulf war. We were on patrol near the straits of Gibraltar when the boat we were working on decided to surface under us! We were screaming for the TACO to take action, and he refused to belive us. In frustration our PPC rolled the plane onto the left wing , pining the TACCO against the window till he said "oh look! There's a submarine under us!" [X(][8|][:(][:D]

I was wondering if you were a lot older than I thought. On the very 1st of the P-3a's (Then called the P-3V) the roles were divided differently , sensor 2 operated MAD and Julie.Sensor 1 did Jez and sensor 3 did RADAR and sniffer. I'm not sure who did ECM. Long before my time. Of course the AW rate wasn't invented then, they were all AX's or AT's.

I'm sorry about speaking the foreign language! I got carried away. If you'd like any translations or explanations, please ask. [8|]

Mynok -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (8/14/2010 2:49:35 AM)

Well, I won't claim to know all the intricacies, but I got the jist of it. [:D]

Makes me sad that Robert will visit the forums and post anywhere but here.

Well, Steve, a final 'Happy Birthday' wish from me for the night. The turn should be in your inbox to enjoy. I'm off to watch the rest of my Oakland A's v. Minnesota with a nice bourbon.[8D]

scott64 -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (8/14/2010 4:22:38 AM)

Messing around with Victoria 2 tonight in between turns. [X(]

thegreatwent -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (8/14/2010 4:40:33 AM)

I've been tinkering with Victoria II between turns as well. That game seems to have potential but I've been burned by buying Paradox games before they are properly patched[:@]

Still I'll definitely keep my eye on this one.
