Good grief, is it EVER going to stop raining???[:@]

Don't worry T , The North Pole will be ice free in the summer months in 4 or 5 years, then we start working on Greenland and when that is gone, your neck of the woods should be very hot and dry.

Mynok -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (8/17/2010 4:51:11 PM)

If Greenland melts, his neck of the woods will be under water.

Yeah, but afterall, Denmark owns it. The water is their's anyway. And Copenhagen can be the new Venice, the New Amsterdam and the new St Tropez. (Damns, canals and with warm weather they can stay were they are in the summer! You need to look on the bright side, my gloomy martian friend!)[:D]

Onime No Kyo -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (8/17/2010 5:19:09 PM)

New Amsterdam is already spoken for, thank you very much.

Chickenboy -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (8/17/2010 5:49:31 PM)

As is New Rourke's Drift, New Ullalapool and a few others...(see Cap'n Mandrake's / Sprior's AAR)

Ooh! I wonder if we can sue the Danes for the coastal flooding that may occur when the icesheets on Greenland melt? Problem solved!

Terminus -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (8/17/2010 6:04:29 PM)

Here's something I didn't know. Jimmy Stewart flew a single B-52 combat mission in Vietnam.

Hey, that is interesting.

Was it a combat mission or a "combat mission" ala to be Pres. Johnson in WWII?

Terminus -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (8/17/2010 6:15:44 PM)

He flew at the head of an Arc Light mission in 1966, bombing Viet Cong positions; sounds like a combat mission to me.

Stewart was in the Air Force Reserve, and had requested a combat assignment for his yearly period of duty. That's why he was in Vietnam.

Onime No Kyo -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (8/17/2010 6:19:57 PM)

Wow! I got a Nigerian email in Russian. [X(]

You'd think those boys from the Baltic would have a better command of the language...70 years of soviet occupation and all. [8|]

I know....Wish I'd had more time to spend on it before heading overseas. It was quite frustrating to require a translator.

[:D]

gladiatt -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (8/17/2010 7:09:46 PM)

I'm not surprised. Besides being much decorated B-24 pilot and commander, and a true patriot, his son, a USMC force recon LT was killed there early in the war.
