Still morning tithe.

Bouncing from hither to yon, but managed to shoehorn in a couple moving days and was in Prattville. So called TOMLABEL in Birmingham and we got together for some beers and foot long burritos. We got one of the waitresses (cutest one, imho) to take a picture with Kelley's phonecam and he's threatening to post it. If he does, don't let him lie to ya. he's the good looking one, I'm the grotty old man in the Team NZ shirt.

I've worked with Kelley for darn near two years, and it was a thrill to actually meet the man and chat. Will soon get my poopie together on the exquisite Eastern Shore of bee-you-tee-full Mobile Bay, and am planning excursions to annoy and irritate some of the rest of you; Mike, Don Bowen, Ian the Elf - people I know only through text, but want to get to know well enough so that they buy the beer. Texas and NC are just a hop, skip, and a jump from Mobile, so ya'll get the spare bedroom ready and stock up the reefer.

Ciao. John

Yes, got to finally meet John in person after all of these years! It was definitely a highlight in the AE life and personally as well! After all, it was John who called me to join the AE team and it was a very great and informative experience from Day1!!!

I must say it was fascinating and interesting to get to talk to JWE about some of the behind-the-scenes stuff concerning AE as well as our backgrounds. We were actually working with the B1-B project at Wright-Patt at the same time - same building!

Very enlightening! I appreciate him driving up from the Montgomery area to meet me for dinner Thursday night, because he then had to drive the 1.5 hours back that night and then haul all of his stuff down to his new place on the bay of Mobile (right across from BB60)! What a lucky guy!!! Hope to get to take him out on one of the annual Blue Marlin events in the spring and to hit all the great seafood restaurants!! What a blast! I'm excited that he is in my "home-town" as I will be calling him up often!

Sorry for the poor quality as it was taken from an old camera phone!

Jeez Louize, had a ongoing tranny leak problem that the dealer wanted $600 to fix. My old mechanic could do it for $350, but why bother, here's some tranny fluid, just keep her topped up, you'll be ok. So the leak gets worse and I find MacArthur's Garage in downtown Fairhope at 10:30 am this morning.

"Yeah, bring her on in" says they, and I do. So, two hours later, everything's done. John MacArthur let me help and taught me how hard to torque the tranny pan bolts. Drop the tranny pan, clean it so's you could eat out of it, clean and polish the magnetic filter plate, flush the tranny, replace the filters, replace the pan gaskets with oem rubber, adjust the drive-1 band, check the drive-2 and 3 band adjustments, chat a lot, have a beer, drop the Jeep, refill the fluids, and back her out good to go. I sh!t you not $118.20 !!!!

Oooh Golly, I'm loving Alabama !!!! I mean, seriously honest people; a place where integrity is more than just a word, and where occasional relationships seem to be governed by the simple proposition of "courtesy".

Kelley, I can't begin to thank you, and Ian, and Bon Bowen, for encouraging this move.

Ciao. John

John - glad to hear you've hooked up with some good "home" folks!!! Just remember, if you need a dentist or dental surgeon, I got a best friend for ya and not a "witch doctor" as 'he' likes to refer to them.

Did his prelim ed at USA pre-med at Spring Hill, lab in P'cola and then med in Philidelphia. Did his intern for several years at a major hospital in Miami (aka War Zone - can't remember the name) but where the military sends its folks for OTJT. He's shown me some horrific pics and said it was non-stop action!!!! He is military oriented as his brother was/is in the Navy. Knows his stuff no doubt!!!

My sis from Memphis has even made the trip to Mobile for his services. Close friend of the family, so he won't disappoint.

Just be sure to mention I said to tell him (as a reminder) "gotta get some tig ole bitties!!!" !!![:D]

Looking forward for a BIG seafood dinner!!!! Glad I got to finally meet my bro a few weeks ago! Sheri is still traveling, but we'll get down there soon!

Kelley

Two pounds o' shrimp cooked in Yogi Shrimp Boil, blue crab enchilada, king mackerel (or grouper or pompano, your choice), saffron rice, feijoada, y bebidas. Don't you dare show up without Sheri.

Ciao, bro. John

btw, met Jimmy Buffet's sister last Friday at this really cool, ecclectic, little food bar in downtown Fairhope. What a neat freakin place!

JWE -> RE: DAERHT - ITNA (1/7/2011 6:07:58 PM)

Was going to apologize beforehand but then what the hey, this is DAERHT ITNA EHT. Gotta tee off on Brother TomLabel with another Alabama story.

So here I am downtown, going to pay the City of Fairhope utility bill. Now you can put it in an envelope with a stamp, or mosey on downtown. Had to go to the bank just next door, so decided to mosey. Now they got a teller window you can drive up to, so yepper, up I go. Pay my bill and as the question.

Me "Is there any way to pay this electronically or by phone?"
Them "Well of course there is."
Me "But I looked on the bill and there's no phone number."
Them "Oh, well we announced it just last year."
Me "But I just moved here a few weeks ago."
Them "Oh, well maybe I can give you the number."
Me "Yes, I think that would be nice."

And then, seeing as how I was at the City of Fairhope, Alabama, Municipal Offices, I thought I would ask about registering the Jeep and the BMW, so ..
Me "By the way, where's ya'lls DMV?" (in my best accent)
Them "What's a DMV?"
Me " Where ya go to register cars and get licenses and such."
Them "Oh, you want the Annex."
Me "Ok, what's an Annex?"
Them "Oh you know, the Courthouse Annex."
Me "Well, not really, but I'll take your word for it. And where is this Courthouse Annex?"
Them "Well it's just past Bruno's Market, on the right."

A chill came over me, as I remembered other directions I received .. 'second light past the Target .. ', 'first left after Bob's Ford .. ', 'down by Minny's Gas and Market ..', 'up to Montrose, by Moseley's Meats.'

Now I really do love this small towm stuff, but God invented street addresses and Google for a reason. When I Google Moseley's Meat, I get ... well, you don't wanna know what I get.
