I can't find any place to register my copy of WITP AE.  I log in just fine (Members Club), but I see no lising.  What am I missing please.

After you login, on the right hand side there are a number of menu links, one of them is "Register Game", just click on that link and the rest is self explanatory.

Back to the map - is there an optimum size to print the planning map or is it a matter of what you get done or afford at a commercial printer? I am not sure how the size and resolution of the jpg translates into printing. I assume there is a minimum size if you want all the names etc to be legible.

I got the map printed and laminated on A1 paper today at Staples. Looks good on the wall but still too small to use for detailed planning- I would reckon you would need 4 sheets of a1 - lets see thats about 6 ft by 4ft.................

denisonh -> RE: Full Size AE Planning Map Now Available! (8/2/2009 11:47:13 PM)

Played around with on paint shop pro and found the "smallest" size that I could read was about 60-65% of original or ~7' x 5'

I just found a nice tool to split the image in several smaller images to print them afterwards.

Take a look:

When you double click the game icon, after installation, the screen you see has a Register to click and do so.

I have to say the map looks really nice printed and laminated at 5' by 6'. I had to get the blue ocean hexes toned down so I could write on it.

Where in the Sam Hill, did you get it printed and laminated at 5' by 6' ? [X(]

Al Boone -> RE: Full Size AE Planning Map Now Available! (8/8/2009 6:06:48 PM)

For those who wish to put away a large map after use - I purchase a large window shade kit at Walmarts. These are about 6' X 6' before being cut down (adjustable in width) and cost about $30 plus minor hardware cost. I mount to the top of wall or edge of ceiling with a valence to hide the roll when not in use. Mine is right above my computer. Obviously you can pull the map down as far as desired. Laminating may make the map too stiff to conveniently roll up, since I use clear package tape to fasten the map to the face of the heavy vinyl shade surface. Another advantage is being able to substitute a different window shade of the same width (a different game map) onto the fixed fasteners. Different maps are rolled up within their own vinyl window shade and store well for later use. Works for me and is neat looking, adjustable and relatively cheap. I agree that my 4' x 5' wall map is still too small!

My local FedEx Office has the capability to print and laminate at that size. They had to send it to another office for lamination but it can be done.

Cool idea. That sounds alot like the large wall maps I remember having in the classrooms in grade school (um....some 29 yrs ago).

I would have never expected FEDEX to provide this type of function/service. Guess I'm going to have to start asking a broader community as to things ..... Thanks.

Hi AW1Steve

I put it on a stick and took it to the local Staples-

Put this picture up in another thread on the main forum - thought I should post it here as well (didn't notice the thread before).

Ordered a 1.5 x 1m print of the AE map - need a magnifying glas to read resources and industry, but it's still awesome [8D] Cost me about 50$ in a (norwegian) print shop - printed on plastic like quality.

Xargun -> RE: Full Size AE Planning Map Now Available! (8/13/2009 8:36:33 PM)

My only question is if Matrix plans to sell maps for AE like they did for WitP. It makes it easy for the wife to get me a birthday present I really like and for Matrix to earn some cash.

As for getting permission to hang it - its easier to ask forgiveness than permission.

Erik you guys should take into consideration some posts here about size. Also you may want to make a couple of options such as adding economy and base info or such. [:D]

I think he probably is referring to Kinko's, which is owned by FedEx now. "FedEx Kinko's"

Sounds like this is too small to read. What is your opinion? What about adding some economy info, base info, and maybe even hex numbers??? Think it would look like crap?

rjopel -> RE: Full Size AE Planning Map Now Available! (8/16/2009 2:38:53 PM)

At 5ft by 6 ft. I think that's a good size. It should work for what you're looking for.

I figure the fine detail plans I can print at 100% a couple of pages off my printer.

Ron Belcher -> RE: Full Size AE Planning Map Now Available! (8/17/2009 1:33:35 AM)

Matrix.. it surprises me how you see this map mentioning, that you don't step up and sieze this
opportunity to offer such a service! I see gamers spending $100+ for the WiTP map alone.
I say "Matrix" .. because it's directed to "you all" @ Matrix. Take the ball and run with it !!! [X(]

That's the best line I've seen in a while.

Mike Solli -> RE: Full Size AE Planning Map Now Available! (8/31/2009 4:41:06 PM)

I just got permission to hang the map on the wall.  And, I can get the map printed as a birthday gift. [:D] I was planning on a 3' x 3' map.  Apparently that's too small.  5' x 6'?  That seems to be a good size.  What do you guys think?
