Jensemann -> Port size (7/29/2009 12:58:52 PM)

Is it just me or is port size become insanly important compared to WITP?

So i have som questions regarding how to build up bases from "scratch". Which kind of transport ship is best suited to unload supplies at low level ports? is it the AKA? and should it be in "amphibious" mode? since it then stocks the supplies on the beach insteed then in the port.

and one last thing what is faster when building up both airfield and port? first building ports and then airfield or them both simuntainusly?

thanks for answers

Use an amphibious TF to unload at small ports; they will "assault" the port over the beach instead of waiting for their turn at the one pier.  That will mean the LCU's have to be in combat mode and IIRC you will need more ships to carry them, but that's the way it is.

As for which builds up first, from the limited results I've seen so far they appear to build at the same rate, assuming you've got enough supplies to build both.  The suggestion is to send a construction battalion first to a base with a low port and let them build it up.  That way you can unload supplies faster and bring in larger LCU's (base forces, etc) that can help build the airbase quicker.

Yes, port size is insanely important.

For building a friendly "beach" into a port:

Amphib TF.
AKAs and APAs are best ships to carry supplies/men.
Bring an LCU with Naval Support! Try to have enough NS to bring the port value up to a 3 (or at least a 2).

Otherwise, you might still be unloading when "Little Boy" becomes a Mushroom. [8|]
