darrenl -> Coral Sea - Newbie wants to share (8/1/2009 2:48:03 PM)

I just wanted to share this one. I was doing the Coral Sea scenario, and honestly, I'm not really "doing" that much. Just sending both carrier groups West then heading North. In this round I nailed the Japanese CV and had both carriers at my disposal to hit the invasion force to PM. Take a look see...I think I had around 2000-ish casualties for the Japanese invasion TF.

For the vets out there...have I now mastered the Coral Sea scenario? After this, I've won this one three times in a row.

vettim89 -> RE: Coral Sea - Newbie wants to share (8/1/2009 6:37:40 PM)

I'd have to say the script for beating the AI in the Coral Sea is well written now. For the Allies scoot your CV's west then NW to avoid CarDiv 5 and cream the transports followed by a run south. For the Japanese it seems to pull Cardiv 5 in close to the AMPH convoy and escort them all the way in. The AI seems obsessed with creating a CV vs CV battle at or near the historical location. If you don't move your CV's there no matter which side you are playing the AI seems to get confused. If you move either the USN CV's or the IJN CV's to the area between Tulagi and Milne Bay, you invariably get a CV vs CV encounter on the second or third day
