Yes, I have been a good little NOOB, and checked the manual. If it's there, I can't find it.

I think its for "provisional".

Edit: As far as I know the 17th Pursuit, at least, was destroyed in the Philippines and the 17th Pursuit Squadron (Provisional) was created out of bits on hand for defending the NEI.

Pretty sure Splinterhead is correct.

You'll probably find an early remove by date for them as well as the organised Fighter Groups arrive.
