slick willy -> Amphib landing (8/3/2009 1:30:48 AM) I am allied. Currently it is Jan 12 1942, and I have no APA/AKAs or LSD/LSVs. My APs are upgrading to APA and will be ready in March 1942. I have 2 CVs 1BB, some CL/CAs and DDs beating up every thing on and around Wake island. Is there any way to get troops on to an island when it is controlled by the enemy with out amphib capable ships? Or do I have to wait it out until my APs upgrade to APAs? It has taken me 4 days(real time) to get a month of game time in. If I have to wait for APAs what should I do? I already lost the Phillipines. Should I start getting troops and Aircraft over to the other islands to help defend? Thanks for any help! Willy

You can launch an amphib assault with just xAK's (you can put xAK's into amphib task forces), but you're likely to get massacred due to the incredibly slow unload rate of those ships when in amphib mode and when not docked. As for what to do...defend your sea lanes to Australia. Defend Australia itself. Perhaps put up a spirited defense of Port Moresby. And don't forget about India/Burma. In AE, there is always something to do!

Brady -> RE: Amphib landing (8/3/2009 4:10:03 AM) You are upgrading AP to APA that early? AP and AK Btw work just fine for Amphibious landings. .... I just checked in my game and aside from like one esception that is likely atypo they all dont upgrade unitl 43 (as they should) to AKA or APA status.
