Hi Everyone,

A new public beta hotfix is now available for all registered owners of War in the Pacific: Admiral's Edition. You can download this beta update by registering your copy in our Members Club, then going to My Games and clicking on Private Downloads next to the Admiral's Edition entry in the game list.

This addresses the following issues. These fixes will also be in the first official update, but we wanted to get them out sooner as they were affecting gameplay significantly in many cases. We recommend that all customers who are experiencing any interface lag issues upgrade to this update immediately.

- Resolves interface lag issues on some dual core / quad core systems. Improves performance overall on most systems.
- Fixes an issue that could cause TFs moving at cruise speed and full speed to move the same distance
- Fixes an issue with the Guadalcanal scenario where some Allied units were restricted that should not have been

Please not that to get the full performance benefit, you should use the -dual command line switch (see the What's New readme).

If i use -quad instead of -dual will this be better?

My processor is an Intel Quad Extreme QX9770

No, there is no -quad switch.

Ok I must be dumb. Where do you put -dual in the target field. How do you do it exactly?

Zebedee -> RE: New v1.080 Public Beta Hotfix Now Available! (8/15/2009 3:28:41 PM)

Hi Wilson,

go to your start menu and find the WitP:admiral's edition quick start option.

Right click on it with your mouse.

Then select 'Properties'.

A box will then open and you'll see a section which says Target.

In this box, after the last quotation mark add the command line switches you wish to add.

So it will look something like this:

"C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -wd -dual -deepColor -altFont -r

'Apply' your changes.

Then load up the game using that quick start option and you should see the changes you've opted to make.

Hope that helps.

Zebedee,

Thank you. I'll give it a try.

Wilson

is this the same procedure if you are using a shortcut icon?

Hi madgamer,

I made a shortcut from the WitP Admiral's Edition quick start option in the start menu. I've been altering the command line from that without any problems. I think the important thing is that the shortcut points to the correct .exe file.

edit: Had some wackiness with this since restarting my PC. Might be wise to make the shortcut directly from the .exe or limiting self to editing the shortcut available from the start menu.
