JR5555 -> What is the cutoff point for a damaged carrier to launch aircraft? (8/4/2009 1:03:57 AM)

Hi,

Sorry if its been asked before, did a search, had no luck.

Any details on when a damaged carrier can launch again would be great. What level does the system damage have to be?

Thanks[&o]

float, fire, sys damage upto a combined 50 points

willie is correct, while I´m not sure if the flight deck is closed at a combined damage of 50 or 51.

Out of curiosity... can someone provide historical context for this? Examples of a flight deck being closed due to damage, then reopened while still at sea? What kind of real (and non-catastrophic) damage would close a flight deck? Again, just curious. Thanks.

USN CVs had wooden plank flight decks so that if they were holed then a quick fix at sea could be done, but this had to be abandoned with the increased weight of jet aircraft.

Up to a combined damage to around 50: will the number of AC taking off be affected gradually ?

Interesting detail... thanks. Do you know any good resources for more info like that? It helps to know the historical context of the game rules, even if those rules are an approximation.
