I am curious as to how many people actually would prefer to add their own units, vehicles etc to the weapons and platoon files. I found that this a very good way to tinker with a game that will suit your personal needs. Prior to 1.03 you could do this and then the complaint came up that some were cheating by playing by email....There was a soultion to that so simple but yet so impossible...don't play with that individual...

so here it is

Do you wish to see the encryption be lifted?

Yes, is my answer

Sure!

For what it's worth, it's a yes from me. If only because there are already ways around it making any security features pretty much pointless.

Yes, simply because playing with jerks is easily remidied...

Though it is true that there are other ways to cheat adding encryption to the weapon and platoon files removed a source of cheating that is otherwise almost impossible to detect.

It happened to me in a tourney once, and had I not been writing an AAR for that game at the time (and thus analysing every result) I would never have caught it. Without catching it I would never have known to use the excellent remedy of not playing that individual again.

An alternative would be to encrypt the game file (and as part of the header of that file note the weapon and platoon files to be checked against those being used by the other player).

True,

Used to be if you were playing somebody and they have "invincible" tanks and infantry units that bowl over your men like superman, you just wouln't play with them anymore because you might suspect they had created super units?

From Matrix's viewpoint, they are probably trying to establish a game that is somewhat more cheat-proof and arent too concerned with mod-ability. I am sure they like it the way it is.

I think mod-ability is good, personally, but I can see the other perspective.

I do as well, but I hardly play email or H2H. I simply create my own scenarios and units in 1.03. To me it is just plain enjoyable creating BMP files for new units, creating new platoons etc. That is just me
