Fabs -> Can't access German units (10/31/2000 9:34:00 PM)

I am re-designing a scenario and find that I can't get any SPW 250/1 or SPW 251/10.
The availability for these units is june1941-1949 for the 250, 1940-end 1942 for the 251/10.
The date for the scenario is November 1942, and was correctly set when i attempted to get the units.
In previous versions both types were accessible from the "change unit type" button in the scenario editor.
Now neither appears, despite still being accessible through the OOB editor (units 101 and 107).
They are not offered in the "Buy" screen as alternatives when buying Half track sections or platoons.
How do I get around this, other than modifying the weapons in another available type?
P.S. I'm doing this on my portable, only updated to v 4.2.
