Hello everyone, new here and new with the game... just been playing for a few days. I've a couple of questions.

1. I can't seem to see any improvement with my mercs (hired and created) when they level up, except for higher price for hired mercs. I mean no additional points to distribute to Attributes or Skills? Is this the design or I'm just looking at the wrong places?

2. I have observed that Dagger (the ex-SAS merc)sometimes switches to burst mode despite the fact I had him on single shot. Is this sort of like his character trait or is this a bug? Sample scenario: Dagger shoots a single at an opponent when I click on the opponent again for a second round, Dagger suddenly shots in burst. While it doesn't happen that often but I think I've noticed it happened around 4 or 5 times already across 2 separate games.

I only have the Patch v1.07.001.

1. The mercs combat level goes up hence the higher pay. Debates about what that does have been rampent. Your merc's skills like shooting and the likes go up on there own as you use them.

2. It's a trait of the merc.

1.  Now that I know, I've probably question what exactly does combat level does/means?

2.  Cool that it's a trait.  Uncool as burst is not exactly my style.  [:D]


Btw, is there some manual/documents/write-ups or whatever about what Skills/Attitude/Phobias do in this game that I can read?  I mean, I've never played Jagged Alliance but played Fallout 2 ages ago, can't really remember much.  The IPA says my character is Aggressive, so what exactly does that mean?  What are the pros and cons?

No idea to be honest. Never did read the manual myself.. just dove in clicking. If I recall though there's some posts about this someplace on the forums. Largely though imo shootings about the only skill you need along with a good str, dex and agi. The rest I've personaly never found to be all the good.

Bursts arn't really my style eather, Bigger waste of ammo then anything else really.
