Earlier sometime I asked a question on why the game is expensive, and the feedback I got gave me some idea on why this is expensive.. I am yet to get the game and will get it the same day my next paycheck comes in...I am playing some of the other demos they have here to better understand what wargaming is all about though i would love a witp ae demo.. From what I see, Sales figures are probably not that important for a focused company as Matrix games. It looks like they love what they do and their customers/fans love their products at a level much higher than let us say a Call of Duty customer has to Activision. Infact I see that the fans want Matrix games to succeed and they are willing to make it happen by involving themself in the improvement of the game, irrespective of whether the game is a success or not. Some time back I was wishing that atleast some Companies which are in "Art" business (by which I mean movies, books, games,TV shows etc) should deliver products which appeal to a certain cross section of fans rather than trying to appeal to everybody. They can be satisfied with the level of success they achieve, which might be smaller than a typical mainstream product, but have an audience base that is much more loyal. If more companies were like that then we would see more of TV Shows like Firefly, futurama..games like War in the pacific etc...Alas most companies in a bid to satisfy shareholder will try and create a product to appeal to Lowest common denominator without offering the kind of satisfaction which the hardcore demand. I am glad that Matrixgames is not one of them and I hope they continue to have reasonable success to deliver the kind of games their fans love...
