Just bought CCTLD.

Not that pathing has ever been great, but why am I watching my HMG crew go from one end of an open building to the other via the firefight on the street? All dead of course.

Is something that basic (use cover, avoid bullets) really that hard to fix? To me, it just ruins the game. Feels like I wasted my money.

Did you order them to Move Fast?

Move Fast - take the fastest route to the destination
Move - take the route to the destination taking advantage of cover if available
Sneak - take the route to the destination taking advantage of cover if available and using stealth (crawling)

The manual on page 26 & 27 explains these commands...

Sadly this is not true, pathing errors occur with any move order:

In this example, 3 teams were issued a normal "move" order, instead of taking the intended path (through the cover providing hedgerow) they opt for the open field, luckily the Germans have only a very weak BG in this map, otherwise those teams would be dead by now!

When I tabbed out to edit the last screen my game crashed and I had to start the map again, so I decided to compare the behaviour under different orders:

The higlighted squads were issued the "move fast" orders the non higlighted the "move" orders. The starting point was the same as in the previous pic. As it is clearly observable the "move" squads act suicidal again! The "move fast" squads stay mostly in cover providing terrain, except for three idiots.
So the squads are doing the exact opposite of what they are supposed to do!

Tejszd -> RE: Pathing (7/11/2010 10:22:50 PM)

Maybe they are reversed???

UltraGott -> RE: Pathing (8/5/2010 12:07:45 PM)

nice observation??

Andrew Williams -> RE: Pathing (8/5/2010 8:51:49 PM)

yes

UltraGott -> RE: Pathing (8/6/2010 7:54:10 AM)

which means we got to deal with that?

Andrew Williams -> RE: Pathing (8/6/2010 8:05:01 AM)

Play it how it feels

UltraGott -> RE: Pathing (8/6/2010 9:49:15 AM)

it feels good to smash your opponent, but game improvments seem to be cosmetic.
iŽll stop complaining.
