Both sides start the game with widely scattered forces in china with hexes that are uncontrolled between them. Does supply flow through these uncontrolled hexes or do you have to control all of the hexes between two points before supplies will move?

My guess is that supply should flow through the "uncontrolled" hexes (the old hex control from the original WITP went away with WITP-AE). However, if the supply path from the unit to the nearest supply source is too long, it will not receive any supply.
